Brother Bonding Bonanza:

It was supposed to be a simple yet lovely outing with his brother, Quaildock. They haven't spent much time with one another for quite a while and Kestrel felt incredibly guilty. He should've set aside some time for his siblings. They deserved as much attention from him as his mate and kits. Without them, he wouldn't be the tom he was now. It's why he'd asked Quail if he wanted to go on a walk and perhaps hunt. He was hoping for a peaceful day in the territory as both of them caught each other up with their lives but fate had other plans it seemed.

Kestrelswoop stopped the two of them when he spotted twin pelts of a pair of mischievous raccoons sniffing around. "Hmm..." he hummed as he began to slowly inch forward. Raccoons were little devils and he didn't want to take any chances. As soon as the irritable masked predators turned to face them, the tabby tom faced his brother and nodded before launching himself at the one closest to him and he pinned it down. The other raccoon shrieked once it saw it's companion go down and it swiped it's paw at the warrior's eyes but luckily, the tom managed to just avoid it but it still managed to scratch his cheek. He hissed but kept his gaze at the one below his paws. He knew Quaildock had his back so he wasn't worried. He just had to focus on the one he was pinning down.

Quaildock let out a sound mixed with a huff and a hiss. He just wanted to spend time with his only living brother, but these two raccoons just had to ruin it! For goodness sake can't there just be a moment of peace in the clans?! He quickly unsheathed his claws at the sight of the second raccoon attacking his brother, and ran towards it. He clawed at the raccoon, clawing at it.

He shot his brother a grateful smile as the raccoon that had scratched him turned it's focus on Quail. It was now a fair battle but the tom couldn't help but peek every so often at how Quaildock was fairing. It was normal for him to worry over his siblings however, it'd be best if he would focus on the raccoon he was fighting instead.

Finally, the warrior turned back and bared his teeth at the creature as it escaped his hold. He hissed and leaped forward at it and snapped his jaws down on what he could reach. He heard a screech and he smiled inwardly to himself. Good. The brown and white tom began to back away but was met with a set of furious claws slashing at the same injured cheek. These came much closer to his eyes and he let out an audible gasp. That little monster nearly took an eye out! He snarled and readied himself to pounce at it. It was weak now but still fighting and he intended to do something about that.

At the sudden strikes it recieved, the raccoon whipped around and flung towards the other cat, eyes glaring and sharp little claws ready to strike. It didn't take long for it to leap at the cat and bit down harshly at the closest limb it could reach, which turned out to be the cat's left foreleg. It stayed on before scurrying back with a satisfied hiss. That would teach the feline not to mess with it!

Quaildock readied himself to strike again, when the raccoon suddenly bit his shoulder. Quaildock bit back a yowl of pain, as he stared the raccoon down. Two can play at that game, you flea ridden mange-pelt. He thought, before snapping at the raccoon's shoulder. The taste of blood not his own filled his mouth, but he was satisfied with his very petty revenge.

Just as he'd promised himself, Kerath lunged forward and smacked a heavy paw across the raccoons head and proceeded to watch it fall limp to the ground with prideful satisfaction. That'll teach it. Now that his opponent was down, he could check on how his brother was faring.

The warrior was just in time to see the beast weakly scratch at Quail's face. How dare it! The tom snarled, anger refueling at witnessing something hurt his sibling. He began to rush over with the intent of smothering the little beast. He was sure Quail would end it before him but he was still going to get there. They'll both certainly need Dovefrost after this...

Quaildock stole a glance over the Kestrel, to see that his brother had successfully defeated the other raccoon. And time to throw the finishing blow to this one. He laid another blow upon the raccoon, this time onto it's eyes. The raccoon let out a hiss, before running off. It most likely wouldn't survive long, especially since it's buddy is now dead.

Watching the second raccoon scamper off brought Kerath immense relief. It was over! Stupid raccoons ruining their day. The warrior sighed and focused back his attention on his brother. He wanted to check him over for any serious injuries.

"Quaildock? Anything hurt real bad? I need to know so I can help you get back to camp carefully." he meowed with a soft yet serious expression, green gaze searching for any visible wounds. Every scratch he saw caused the guilt to rise within him. He never meant for this to happen. The moment his eyes landed on the other tom's shoulder wound, he felt the worst guilt. "Does...Does that hurt? Can you walk with that?" he asked as he signaled to Quail's shoulder. "I-I'm sorry Quail. I should've never gotten those raccoons' attentions. You got hurt because of me and I feel terrible about it..." The tom gently pressed his forehead to his brother's. He wanted the other to know how much he cared.

Quaildock turned over to his brother, and softly smiled. "I'm fine Kerath, just a few scratches. My shoulder's fine, I think. How bout you though. You okay?" When Kerath started apologizing, Daris reassured him. "It's okay, those raccoons needed to be taken care of anyways. Wouldn't want any apprentices getting hurt." He then pulled his forehead away from Kerath's and turned to the camp's direction. "Now come on! We've got to get out wounds treated, right? Especially since I'm now thinking that my shoulder's not fine." Daris's soft smile turned into a smirk, in an attempt to lift his dear brother's spirits.

He allowed himself to relax only when he was reassured that Quail wasn't in any pain. "You're right Daris," he sighed with a tired yet genuine smile, "It's better for us to take the brunt rather than some poor unsuspecting apprentices. I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that I could've taken the danger away and I just walked away instead."

The brown and white tom's spirits were certainly being lifted as a grin was slowly creeping up onto his face at his brother's lighthearted demeanor. "We can't have that happen now can we? It's a straight trip to Dove's den for the both of us! No exceptions!" he purred as he lifted a paw and ruffled Daris' head. "Come on then. We can try this brother-only outing another time. Today we can take a bit of a break back at the camp. Maybe we can even join in on some of the gossip that I'm sure is happening there right now." With a final smile, the warrior led his companion back to camp, every so often checking up on the other as they walked. Daris always knew how to cheer him up and he was more than grateful for that.
