Hentooth scanned the camp, frowning. She was running low on herbs, especially poppy seeds and juniper berries. This was a perfect opportunity to both gather herbs and educate one of the apprentices… there, a white molly. The young medicine cat strode over, gently prodded the apprentice (Frostpaw, wasn’t it?) and mewed softly, “Herb patrol. Come along.” She hurried out of camp, beckoning the apprentice to follow.

Once they were loping on the moors, Hentooth gave the apprentice some more instructions. “Poppy is a red flower with black seeds. Juniper berries are blue berries. You know what cobwebs are, of course. These are only a few of the herbs- if you smell anything out of the ordinary, just call me over. Oh, and for StarClan’s sake, don’t eat anything you find. Foxglove looks a lot like poppy seeds, ya know.” The medicine cat lifted her head and opened her mouth, smelling the air.

OOC: herb hunting is a lot like actual hunting. This topic can help if you’re confused, but basically, you roll the Effect Dice (not the hunting dice) and, depending on what you roll, pick from the herbs below what your cat found. PM me with questions!

Hentooth had called FrostPaw to go herb hunting something she wanted to do for awhile now. Just to go hunting but for things that stay in place therefore easier. As she followed HenTooth out of camp and explained what to do and what to look for and to not eat anything like she was going to eat anything but still worth it to know. Then she started looking. Then found what seemed to be poppy seeds and asked “HenTooth are these poppyseeds? I’m not sure.”

Hentooth scanned the moor for herbs, keen eyes picking out likely shrubs among the rioting flowers. It reminded her of when she’d been a kit… talking to Cloverthenapaw, thinking grass was the only herb… she snorted quietly. What a hare-brain she’d been. Still ways, in many ways, she wryly reflected, padding over to a striking red flower. Good. Poppy was always useful. She gently picked it up in her jaws, careful to not dislodge the seeds. Her ears pricked at Frostpaw’s call, and she loped closer, peering at what the apprentice had found. “Yep, poppy seeds. Just like these. You’ve got to be careful, though, they look a lot like foxlaaah!!!”

Before her very eyes an eagle swooped down, sinking its claws into the young apprentice. Hentooth gave a furious snarl and rapidly closed the remaining distance, sinking her claws into the eagle. The very familiar eagle. She had given it that scar running down its stomach. Hentooth’s eyes flared with fury, and she tore into the reckless bird, heart hammering. This was the eagle that had ruined her relationship with Timberpaw. By the stars, she wouldn’t let it get away this time.

Then, with a pang, she remembered the apprentice. “Try to stay back,” she hissed, wildly slashing at the feathers. Hopefully the apprentice would take her advice… although, if anyone had told Henpaw that, she’d have a fit.

The eagle shrieked with pain at the unpredicted ferocity of the cat. It let the white, young one go and focused on the calico, eyes narrowing with anger.

Hentooth found poppy. A wild eagle has appeared! Wild Eagle used swoop on frostpaw, doing 9 damage and costing 15 stamina. Hentooth used Jumping Strike and Desperate Blows, dealing 15 damage and costing 12 stamina.

Oof, FrostPaw had been attacked by a hawk she wasn’t as worried as she would be because a medicine cat was right next to her. As the next few actions came FrostPaw was hiding behind the medicine cat while not like being told to stay back she did until she felt ready to attack and copied what the medicine cat did hoping to be successful.

Hentooth let out a scoff as the apprentice leapt at the hawk. Eh, this one might turn out good. The young calico leapt forwards, but before she could sink her teeth into the hawk’s wing, it took off and fled, letting out a last, defiant cry before vanishing into the clouds. Hentooth yowled angrily after it, a call of triumph. Oh. Right, Frostpaw. Hentooth turned to the young apprentice, inspecting the wound. “Hmm… here, eat these.” The poppy seeds were a bit crushed, but still effective. While the young apprentice ate the seeds, Hentooth was lucky enough to find a nearby cobweb, and applied it to her wound.

”You did good, Frostpaw. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was taking you to your Moonstone soon!” As she smiled at the white tabby, she felt a pant of unease. Timberpaw… she didn’t want him to turn out like Soot, if that was even remotely possible. She lashed her tail quietly. “We’d better head back,” the calico murmured, turning back in the direction of camp after checking the apprentice’s wound.

Hawk has fled. Hentooth used Standard Heal, healing 5 HP and costing 10 stamina.
