Dawnfeather walked slowly through the forest behind the rest of her patrol, befuddled as to why, exactly, they were on the ground- but most cats did seem to prefer being on the ground, even if they did hunt in the trees. It was a nice day, a little hot for her long fur, but a cooling breeze stopped it from feeling like the height of green-leaf. With a start, she pulled herself away from her thoughts. Hunting. Right.
Leaping up into a low bough, she surveyed the forest floor, eyes locking onto… a hare. Hmm. It was bigger than her usual prey and probably could feed a few cats… beside, she had the advantage over WindClan cats. She was in the trees! The hare would never see, hear, smell, or feel her coming. (Yes, apparently harws could feel the ground and tell if somecat was sneaking up on them? So weird!) Besides, Hawkuncle had caught one! That decided her. She inched out over her branch, readying herself…
With a grunt, she catapulted forwards, paws outstretched, but the hare ducked under her paws at the last moment and bounded away. Dawnfeather skidded to a stop, looking after it dolefully. She supposed it wasn’t realistic to hope she’d catch it as a young warrior… maybe when she was older, or if Beetlepaw helped her? With a quiet sigh, she padded back to rejoin the patrol.
Dawnfeather attempted to catch a rabbit, costing 3 stamina. Catch was unsuccessful.
