Prickly Pheasants [c]

(OOC: in hindsight I probably should not have chosen the fox, which its lowest move is 10 damage so its only option is to two-shot apprentices lol)

After successfully tearing the fox's face Pheasantpaw fell beside it. She turned her head up to the snarling beast, it looked to be disoriented for the moment. Red dripped down it's face onto her ears, she held her breath. All the gore and pain and teeth and sounds, it was enough to make her want to scream. Nothing came out though, just a small yelp as it went over towards Pricklepaw's body. Did it not see her? She would never know. Before she even had a second to be concerned her brother was already back on his feet, slashing the fox's face. Amazement crossed her face briefly, how does he do that? She tried to run at them, only to flop onto the ground. Pheasantpaw tried again, gritting her teeth as she limped over. No way would this absolute piece of foxdung hurt them again. She bit into the fox's leg, getting it's attention. Their eyes met, hers were focused, its were furious. Once again teeth rushed at her face, in a crazed manner. Pheasantpaw's moves were already decided, ducking to the side of it. Stumbling slightly she reached out an arm at the bloody-orange fur, only managing to fall over. Mousedung! She couldn't see Pricklepaw from where she was, but she had to hope he was still alive. "Pricklepaw I swear to Starclan if you are dead I'll bury your body in this fox's dung myself," she muttered to herself. This fox could easily snap their necks, they couldn't let it get them! "Get your butt up and help!" she hissed, today was not a good day to die at all.

Fox used Iron Bite, dealing 17 damage and costing 30 stamina.
Pheasantpaw used Dodge and Fight, negating the damage from the previous attack, costing 15 stamina. Attempting to counterattack... Failed.

The fox rushed at Pheasantpaw… through a red haze Pricklepaw saw her just barely dodge it… they couldn’t keep this up. There was only one way out. Someone was going to die… and it wouldn’t be him or Pheasant. That left only one, didn’t it? His heart pounding, Pricklepaw took advantage of the fox’s fixation on Pheasantpaw, sneaking up behind it… and… leaping onto its back, with a stroke of pure luck, he fixed his jaws around the beast’s throat, tasting blood. The fox gave a shriek, thrashing around, but Pricklepaw hung on, feeling the life slowly ebb. It felt like ages, blood-curdling, painful ages until the fox finally, slowly, hesitantly collapsed.

Pricklepaw stumbled over to Pheasantpaw, covered in blood (that was mostly the fox’s, he was proud to say). “Pheasant… you okay?” He murmured softly, head spinning. They were lucky it had been a young fox, barely more than a cub. They were lucky he had seen Waterlily take the life from another fox. “We’re awfully lucky…” he moaned, trying to sit but instead collapsing to the ground, his limbs giving out beneath him.

Pricklepaw used Killing Bite, killing the fox and costing 10 stamina. Fox is dead and I’m too lazy to write the stats out lol.

Before she knew it Pricklepaw was latched onto it's throat. To her disbelief he held on for much longer than expected, and the fox was losing life. Pheasantpaw had underestimated her brother. Eventually he finished it off. "Great Starclan Pricklepaw, she managed to spit out, "Yeah, yeah I'm fine. The tip of her tail twitched, they were lucky. Incredibly, stupidly lucky... She looked at the tom on the ground next to her. A rare occasion, but she was... Impressed. "Good... Good job," she breathed. Pheasantpaw closed her eyes, listening to the birds singing above. Only the she-cat's leg was bleeding, other than that and the adrenaline she was alright. "You?"

“I’m going to rest here for a while,” Pricklepaw panted, already beginning to clean the blood off his fur. He didn’t want to go back to camp looking this stupid. “You can hunt a bit, if you feel up to it. If anymore foxes come, though, we’re going up a tree.”

Realizing she indeed did want to hunt Pheasantpaw shuffled to her feet. It was easier now, to stand. But could she walk? Fortunately, yes, she went over to a nearby tree. The calico looked down at her paws, soaked in blood. Could I climb if I needed to? She flexed her claws, hooking them into the bark. Scampering up an oak she was able to reach a low branch. She didn't want to go home empty pawed. Pheasantpaw knew she needed to contribute to her clan, especially after all the prey she's been eating. Red and brown fluttered in the corner of her eyes, it was a robin. Keeping her body down close to the base of the branch she aimed towards the one across.

Stretching her long body out she clung to the branch the bird was on. A crack filled her ears as she started dropping, followed by a thump as her heavy body hit a thick pile of ferns. To her alarm the branch had landed a whisker away from her head. Thank the stars, she thought. No further injuries were inflicted upon her because of her fall, for which she was thankful. Rising to her feet for the last time she hurried towards Pricklepaw. "I'm going home," she growled as she passed him, limping back to camp.
