Keeping Promises [Ravenpaw]

Ravenpaw had went after another lizard, but she misstepped and made more noise than she should have. She watched as the lizard disappeared deeper into the forest and returned back chuckling. When Mistyfalcon spoke she nodded, "I think we have plenty of mice now, but one more lizard would have been nice." The she-cat's tone was light, and she glanced back where the lizard had been. She looked into the sky, and realized they had been out for a while. "Want to head back to camp?"

"Fair, we're not giving our clanmates much of a choice with this." His whiskers twitched in amusement. Of course, there were other hunting patrols, the clan would be fed regardless. "Yeah, let's head back." Mistyfalcon responded, bending to pick up the mice they'd caught, and would fall into step beside Ravenpaw on the way back to camp.

Ravenpaw grabbed the rest and walked with Mistyfalcon back to camp. She felt closer to him now that they had some time to hunt. It was a necessary task, however it was still something the two cats had done together. As they walked, she had an idea, and she glanced over at Mistyfalcon, wondering how he would react. He couldn't talk very well with the prey in his mouth, and neither could the apprentice, but that didn't matter. She made sure they were even before she pretended to stumble, bumping lightly in Mistyfalcon. She was smaller than the tom, so she knew he wouldn't fall, unless he was really caught off guard, but she hopped he would at least notice.

The prey dangling from their jaws made talking difficult, but Mistyfalcon was perfectly comfortable with the silence between himself and Ravenpaw and felt little need to strike up a casual conversation. As the pair walked back toward camp, Ravenpaw stumbled, bumping into Mistyfalcon. The tom paused, offering her a steadying shoulder while she regained her balance and a questioning, if somewhat concerned look.

Ravenpaw sighed through her nose at the failed attempt, but grateful that Mistyfalcon would assist her if she needed it. The apprentice was about to continue walking when she realized that maybe bumping into him again would get the warrior to understand. She moved herself away from his side, and bumped into him again, a bit more obviously this time. To add to the effect, she set the prey down and gave Mistyfalcon a sort of playful smirk, and waited to see what he would do.

Ravenpaw sighed, and as they continued to walk she bumped into Mistyfalcon again, and Mistyfalcon once more gave her a questioning look. If she was hinting at something, it was sailing right over his head. Perhaps Rosethorn had a point when she called him oblivious, but then, Mistyfalcon was far from the only tom in Shadowclan that was.

Ravenpaw set her prey down, and Mistyfalcon followed suit. "Ravenpaw...?" His tone was quizzical, the dark-furred tom hardly noticing the smirk playing at Ravenpaw's lips. And really, why would he? She wasn't Rosethorn or Moonshine, and Ravenpaw was an innocent cat. She couldn't possibly be trying to pull a fast one on him here.

Or maybe the tom was simply clueless. Hopelessly clueless.

Ravenpaw realized that Mistyfalcon had not realized she was messing with him. The she-cat had options, of course. She could give up, but Ravenpaw didn't want to do that. The apprentice could also do it again, but she didn't think he would get the message even after a third time. Her final option, and the riskiest, was to try and knock him over. She was smaller than him, and it could possibly upset the warrior, and make him not like her. As she thought about it, her smirk turned into a more neutral expression. She considered messing with the warrior was worth the risk. He didn't seem to hold grudges.

The she-cat's smirk returned, and she crouched, as if she was hunting, and stalked forward a tiny bit, exaggerating her steps. She didn't pounce yet, but she waited to see was Mistyfalcon would do first.

Ravenpaw sank into a crouch... Oh. Well, Mistyfalcon had gotten her point... Eventually. Thank the stars Rosethorn wasn't here to witness his cluelessness, or else he might never live it down. The hint of a smirk crossed his face, and the tom lazily began to circle around Ravenpaw, tail tip twitching. Let's see what you can do, kid.

Ravenpaw began to circle Mistyfalcon as well, excited to show off some moves. Or, atleast, try to. Ravenpaw shoved aside her nervousness and watched the warrior as she circled each other, and tried to decide on what to do. She was smaller, so the warrior would be stronger than her, but she might be faster. The apprentice darted to the side, hoping to catch Mistyfalcon off guard, and then changed direction as quickly as she could and jumped onto him, trying to knock him over, and get some advantage.

Mistyfalcon watched as the apprentice circled him, clearly trying to figure out a decent method of taking him down. Mistyfalcon was older and had the experience advantage, and he was taller and heavier than this impromptu opponent, but he was no great powerhouse and this sparring session was unlikely to be as one-sided as one might've thought. Ravenpaw had been training for some time, and she had a decent mentor.

Ravenpaw bounded forward, then abruptly changed directions, launching herself at him. Mistyfalcon smirked and dropped lower to the ground, feeling her paws scrabble for purchase without breaking skin. She'd done well to try and catch him off guard. He ducked his head, then attempted to roll quickly to the side in an attempt to make Ravenpaw lose her grip.

Ravenpaw was glad she had gotten a grip on Mistyfalcon, but when he began to roll to the side, the apprentice quickly let go, not wanting to be squished. She quickly moved away, keeping some distance from the warrior and waited to see what he might do in retaliation, wanting to see how he fought, and her best chances of winning.

Ravenpaw released her grip on him, and Mistyfalcon rolled back to his paws. He could tell that she was considering her next move, but that had given him time to make it back to a vertical base without having to struggle. In time, she'd grow faster and more confident, but that was what sparring was for. With a smirk he sprang towards her, but rather than aiming to land on her, Mistyfalcon would move past her, and attempt to pull a leg from beneath the apprentice in the hopes of getting her off-balance.

Mistyfalcon did indeed catch the apprentice off balance, but Ravenpaw used the momentum of falling to roll over and get back to her paws. She whipped around quickly, and ran towards the warrior. She sprang at him, paws extended forward, hoping to use her momentum to knock him over, and pin him down, but without the chance of being squashed by the bigger tom.

Ravenpaw used her momentum to roll back to her paws, and Mistyfalcon nodded in approval. She learned quick, that was good. He was about to lunge forward when she turned and sprang, and Mistyfalcon, having been slightly off-balance in preparation for... not that, went down.

"Good," He panted, tail tip flicking as he was pinned beneath her.

Ravenpaw couldn't help but to purr at the praise, and she stepped off of Mistyfalcon. She knew she had made some mistakes, but she at least caught the tom off guard enough to get an advantage. She sat down and wrapped her tail around her. She scanned the forest, and then looked back to Mistyfalcon, letting him catch his breath. She was breathing hard as well, it had been a bit of time since she last sparred with another cat.
