Beechface leaped up to the new tallbranch, claws digging into the tree bark as she stood, then yowled, "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!"
Today was another apprentice ceremony for one of Sunflower and Willowdance's kits, and another ceremony that she would be filling in for. She didn't mind, not really. Her father needed the rest, after all, but it bothered Beechface just a little that she'd never mentor a warrior, that she'd never hunt and fight alongside her clanmates. With each ceremony performed, it seemed to bother her a little bit more, not that she'd ever needed help to be unhappy with her position in the clan.
The medicine cat waited, tail tip twitching impatiently as she watched the clan gather below.
Bumblekit stood proudly beneath Tallbranch, puffing his chest out. It's finally happening- he's going to be an apprentice! He couldn't wait to prove himself to all of SkyClan! They didn't believe him, for some reason, when he says he's going to be the best.. he'll just have to prove them wrong.
Beechface has been doing the ceremonies recently, as Bloodstrike was busy and needed rest. It bothered Bumblekit a bit that he wasn't being officiated by the clan's deputy, but he was fine with Beechface. Though she did seem a bit grumpier than usual..
He should probably stay out of her way for the ceremony.
It didn't take long for Bumblekit- aptly named- to appear, and with a flick of her tail Beechface started the ceremony.
"Bumblekit, step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to become an apprentice. From today until the day you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Bumblepaw." She couldn't believe she was about to say this next part, and wondered if she should go against what her father had asked. Surely anything was better than the mentor that Bloodstrike had chosen, right?
"Sunflower will be your mentor. You'll learn to be resourceful, I'm sure." She wasn't sure who was being punished more; Bumblepaw, Sunflower, or herself that would inevitably have to deal with whatever nonsense Sunflower could get an apprentice into.
Having been at his usual spot near the edge of the crowd, Sunflower's abnormally large ears perked as his name was called. He wasn't expecting for one of his own kits to be his apprentice and was somewhat worried about being able to train Bumblepaw to the fullest, but he was happy that he got to spend time with him nonetheless.
"T-training starts to-tomorrow," the lengthy tom mewed softly as padded over to his kit and touched his son's nose ever so gently before backing away and letting out a sneeze. Great StarClan would he ever get over his allergies?
