Shining Shadows [C]

Moonshine hated patrolling near Skyclan territory. She hated the way they smelled, she hated the memory of Bloodstrike mistaking her for her father and trying to execute her, and she especially wasn't thrilled with Tornshadow now. It wasn't even her sister's fault, but Moonshine couldn't help it. She hated the memory of meeting Dawnhawk here and the way he basically told her that she didn't matter to him as much as Tornshadow did. Why? Because Tornshadow was a pure Skyclan cat... and Moonshine wasn't. As if that was her fault. She wanted to just not think about it and move on. She hated how much being here bothered her. It made her anger burn hot, and Moonshine was not an angry cat. Her fur bristling with just the idea of being so close to the Skyclan border, Moonshine tried to pick up the pace and trot along it. The sooner she was away from here the happier she would be. The sun would be up soon and then she could just go to sleep. Maybe she could pick a spot near Batglow. At least he and Mistyfalcon had proven to be good company, though now she had noticed she was actually preferring Batglow's company to her mentor's. Hopefully that didn't make her a bad friend...

Tornshadow wasn't aware of the other cat near the border, her own thoughts being occupied by her own clan. Her mind creating lists of what good came out of staying in Skyclan versus the bad about it. It was something she went through every so often, wondering if one of the other clans would even accept her. Thunderclan was always an option, the clans were similar, but she didn't know if she could take being close to Skyclan once she left. Riverclan was an option, but she didn't think Ivystar would be too welcoming to someone like her. Maybe Windclan or Shadowclan? At least in Windclan she could be by her father, but she didn't know how that was working for him. She didn't want to be the one to give him away.. She couldn't do that to him..

Blue eyes perked up as soon as she scented how strong the border was. Oh.. She strayed a little too close. She hadn't crossed yet, but all it would take is one wrong warrior to see and attack her. A small sigh escaped her. Maybe she should head back.

The Skyclan scent was suddenly stronger than before... and Moonshine ducked into the shadows of the brush. How coincidental that the she-cat that came into view was exactly the one she disliked the most? Moonshine's fur bristled. She looked so much like him... even her eyes were nearly identical. It made Moonshine's claws extend. She looked an awful lot like Dawnhawk too at first glance, but one look at her freckled face and paws and the similarities were gone.

Moonshine saw how close Tornshadow got to the border, and that was all the excuse she needed. She stepped out of the shadows, her pale fur probably mimicking that of a ghost materializing out of nowhere. "Well, well... if it isn't Dawnhawk's favorite daughter." She growled. She did note the torn ears on the other warrior though. Had someone gotten to her first? Well that wouldn't do. You're going to pay for throwing me, my siblings and my mother aside like yesterday's garbage, Dawnhawk. I may not be able to fight you, but I bet I can hold my own against her. As Moonshine's eyes took in Tornshadow's appearance, the fiery rage and venomous jealousy danced within her teal gaze.

"He loves you most because you're of Skyclan blood... What a stupid excuse. He should have taken you with him if he cared about you so much. Now you have no one to protect you from me." Moonshine hissed, just before she charged forward, violent intent written all over her enraged face.

Favorite Daughter? What in the Thorns was she talking about? It didn't really bother her that the warrior had appeared out of no where, she was used to Dawnhawk doing it to her sometimes, but a spark of fear flared in her chest as she noted the tone in Moonshine's voice, and the stance she was taking against her. As she spoke Tornshadow finally understood. A growl escaped the warriors throat as she heard the words. "He didn't take me with him to keep me safe!" She knew that, and as much as she wanted to go with him, she knew why. "And I don't need protection from you!"

She retreated back for a moment, using her speed and climbing abilities to spring off a tree, aiming to land right on Moonshine, to pin her.

Tornshadow used Leaping Bound dealing 9 damage, -10 SP. Moonshine is pinned for one turn.

Moonshine watched with a certain fascination as Tornshadow leaped off of a tree. The clans, she remembered, were still fascinating to her. It was very unfortunate that this particular Skyclan cat wasn't one she wanted anything to do with that wasn't violence or completely ignoring her. She even knew it wasn't really Tornshadow's fault, but she was still too angry to care. She let out a huff as her body thudded to the ground with the Skyclanner on top of her.

"Maybe he wouldn't care so much if I rearranged your face!" She spat. Looking closer at Tornshadow, her face was beautiful. It annoyed her. It annoyed her more than it logically should have.

Tornshadow growled at the other warriors response. She hated it. What did she even do to this she-cat besides exist? It wasn't her fault that her father chose to do something different than what this Shadowclan warrior liked! "Shut up! Just shut up!" The skyclan warrior growled out. "It's not my fault you are undesirable!" With that she struck her claws into Moonshine.
