Herbage [Rookfire]

OOC: I'll let you choose the herb list, I'm not good at variety and all of mine are tailored for the great ridge lol

The air was warm, but it was becoming cooler as the sun sank below the treeline. It was later than she'd usually be out looking for herbs, but she'd agreed to meet Rookfire to look for herbs together and Shadowclan's schedule was quite different than her own. Meeting in the evening had been an acceptable compromise.

By the time Beechface had reached highpine, dusk had fallen. She could hear the cicadas as she sat near the border, tail curling over her paws. She was sure her pelt stood out in the long shadows that were stretching across the firest floor, but Beechface didn't particularly care. No Shadowclanner would attack a medicine cat, and if Dawnhawk were lurking around, she'd be able to spot his pale gold pelt just as quickly as he spotted hers through the sparse foliage.

"Hello, Rookfire." Beechface greeted the Shadowclan medicine cat as he approached with a nod.

Herb Hunt Rolls:

Rookfire padded over to the Highpine. He had just woken up to meet Beechface here to look for herbs with her. Both ShadowClan and SkyClan needed herbs, so the two of them looking for herbs would make a great team. Noticing Beechface, the black tuxedo gave her a nod. "Hey, Beechface!" he replied. "Thanks for meeting me here. Now let's go look for some herbs!"

His energetic gaze turned to a focused one as he began searching for herbs that either clan needed. Anything would do, just as long as it had some medicinal value. As the black tuxedo searched for herbs, his nose to the ground, he stumbled upon dark seeds underneath a bright red flower. Poppy seeds. Picking up some of the seeds, he met back up with Beechface near the Highpine. "Got some poppy seeds over here," he said. He tried to stay mostly on his side of the border if possible, but sometimes he accidentally stepped on SkyClan's side of the Highpine. He assumed that it wasn't bad, though, since he was 'outside the code' as a medicine cat, as well as the fact that he'd share the herbs he'd gathered between him and Beechface once they were all done with this.

"Good find." She managed weakly. Poppy seeds... Beechface had to suppress a shudder. Knowing the damage they had done to her father, watching him at his lowest... Beechface now only used them sparingly. Rationally, she knew that normal usage of the seeds wasn't a danger to most cats, but she'd fed Bloodstrike enough of them and had to deal with enough over the past few moons that she would have been happy to never see the red flowering plant ever again.

Beechface quickly turned back to look for something else, anything but stars-forsaken poppy seeds. There were several branches that had been snapped off of their tree trunks recently, and Beechface set about making a pile of sticks. They were good for cats to bite down on when they were in pain, and were useful for making splints when needed. "These sticks are relatively dry, they'll be good for kitting. Splints, too." She called over to Rookfire. Shadowclan tended to have more sparse trees, and their territory was wet and muddy besides. Skyclan had an overabundance of snapped branches, so they might as well be put to use if the other medicine cats needed them.

Rookfire saw Beechface shudder when she saw the dark seeds. Perhaps she had some kind of traumatizing experience using them or something... well, if she didn't want them, he'd be glad to use them himself. Either way, the black tuxedo decided to turn to look for more herbs.

As he patrolled the area, staying mostly on ShadowClan's side of the border, he saw more dark seeds. More poppy seeds? Well, that's fine with-

Wait a second. These dark seeds weren't near any red flowers, but next to the bell-shaped foxglove plant. Those are foxglove seeds! Hastily dropping the seeds that he had picked up, he sighed. Well, I did find poppy seeds before finding these foxglove seeds. That's a win.

Beechface continued with her search, determined to ignore the prickling discomfort at the find of poppy seeds. They were useful, they did genuinely help with pain or allowing a cat to sleep. She just... couldn't shake off what the Asylum had done to Bloodstrike. He still wasn't quite right, and Beechface could no longer tell if that was just her father being her father, or remnants of the Asylum's effects.

Green eyes cast about the forest in search of different herbs. A tall-stemmed plant with fuzzy, jagged leaves caught her eye, and Beechface drew closer to the plant. Stinging nettle. Carefully, she began to harvest some of it, glancing briefly at Rookfire who had found something of his own, it looked like.

Ah, not a particularly helpful plant. Beechface didn't keep poisons in her den, and that one could stay where it was. "There's some stinging nettle over here." She mewed.
