Hello friend [Rookfire]

The she-cat was getting to be about apprentice aged. There was a new confidence that she walked with, which was in part thanks to Rookfire. He told her he would be her friend when she felt so ugly.

Poppykit walked to the medicine den. She was starting to be able to smell the difference between some of the stores; not enough for anything useful, but enough to know that a particular smell was always on the left compared to the right.

"Hey Rookfire," she meowed, comfortable in her skin. "Hope you've been doing well, hope it's not been too busy."

She looked around with a small smile. Poppykit remembered asking him to fix her fur. She sighed.

"Hey, Rookfire? I... wanted to thank you. Thank you for helping me feel better about my spots."

Rookfire turned to see Poppykit in the den. "Hey, Poppykit! I'm doing very well myself! The herbs have been sorted, and nobody seemed to ask me to do anything for them so far." It was as much of a blessing as a curse, since while he didn't have to pull a thorn out of anyone's paw today, it was lonely being in the medicine den. At least Poppykit's company helped with the latter. When Poppykit told him thanks for comforting her about her spots. "No problem," he said, responding to Poppykit. "It made me feel good seeing you happier coming out of the den than in it that day."
