Noise Pollution [Open]

In his admittedly rather short life, Webkit had already found quite the pawful of things that he didn't like.

Of course, there were plenty of things he did like, such as his mother, the nest he shared with her and his siblings, his father, the nursery itself.. It all put him at ease.

Being nosed outside and told to go play, however.. well, it didn't make him nearly as happy.

So there the little kit lay, paws tucked neatly under his chest, his ears pinned to his head. He stared at the cats moving about camp through narrowed eyes, wishing he could find some hole to crawl into since he had been shooed out of the nursery. Maybe he would resort to digging his own; maybe he would burrow so deep he couldn't hear a single meow.

With a huff, Webkit put his head down and closed his eyes, grumbling quietly to himself.

In the end, it was the soft sound of snuffling that woke the tom.

Deepkit stretched, yawned, his small eyes fluttering open. He was surrounded by his family, his siblings' warm bodies, and the smell of milk a warm reminder of where he currently was. It was nice, here. Simple.

Boring.

He padded away from where his siblings lay, sleeping. His mother was out of the nursery, probably bored. She usually was. Maybe that's where he got his boredom from.

Still, he found his way outside of the den and surveyed the camp. He liked coming out here, especially when Flinstar called meetings. He loved watching the older tom call meetings. Whenever the leader came by, it was like Deepkit could not take his eyes off of him.

It was a curious thing, power. One that Deepkit did not have much experience with, but one he craved all the same.

Flintstar didn't seem to be out today, so Deepkit turned, his eyes finding a familiar sight. Ah. That's where Webkit went.

Padding carefully over to his brother, Deepkit sat down next to him. Webkit was looking overwhelmed, as usual, with his paws over his ears. If he had his eyes open, there was no doubt he would be glaring out at the camp. Deepkit didn't understand it, but he didn't say anything about it.

Softly swiping his tail over his younger brother, he asked, "What's wrong this time?" Deepkit kind of wanted to play moss ball, but Webkit had never really liked doing that. Still, he might as well try. Who knew, maybe Webkit would be in a good mood.

As much attention as he'd been paying to the sounds of camp, Webkit hadn't heard pawsteps approaching. He wouldn't have even noticed the other cat if they hadn't touched him, a feeling at which the kit bristled until he looked and saw his brother. Quietly, he thanked the 'StarClan' he'd heard the older cats talking about, and he relaxed quickly at the familiar sight.

What was wrong.. He wasn't quite sure how to answer the question. It was noisy, sure, but that answer didn't seem whole. Webkit felt like something had crawled under his fur, like bees buzzed in his head.

Most of all, he felt tired and irritable.

Still without an answer he was satisfied with, he settled for just shaking his head. He didn't really expect Deepkit to believe him– even if they weren't brothers, he was a poor liar. He didn't feel he was really lying though; he was comforted having his brother here, even if he was still on edge, so it wasn't really a lie to say nothing.

Webkit briefly touched his nose to Deepkit's shoulder and gave him as reassuring a smile as he could, but his head still buzzed and his expression had quickly turned disgruntled as he looked back into the heart of camp.

Spark wa. It was exhausting taking care of four kits while also contributing to ShadowClan's fresh-kill pile. But it was home, and really that's all that mattered. Of course, his decision leaving RiverClan was still something that hurt him, including how he treated Shira in a way. His outburst at her didn't make it that better, despite the she-cat taking it very well. It made him feel awful.

But he needed to raise his kits with Shira, and it turned out that two of them were in the middle of camp. Webkit seemed to be minding his own business, and Deepkit walked over to talk to him. It was interesting to see Webkit's response to the stimuli around him. The kit seemed to like digging whenever he was nudged outward. Spark didn't know why that was the case, which was absolutely terrible. How could he be a parent and not know why his kits prefer certain actions over others? Maybe he just needed to hang around them a little more.

Padding towards the two toms, he gave them a warm smile, letting them know that this was a safe place for them. Spark had no idea how to handle kits, but he could at the very least try. That probably included conversation, though, which was not Spark's forte. "Hey, Webkit, Deepkit," he said. "You two enjoying the camp?" I probably messed this up, didn't I? Because of this, Spark just had to hope that trying was enough.
