Kestrelpaw’s Moonstone Journey

Daisybloom had been happy to hear that an apprentice was ready for a Moonstone journey. Falling back into her old duties was really nice, and the familiarity of everything was so much better compared to the life she had been living recently. Putting together a bundle of travel herbs, just as she had done for moons now, she approached the apprentice den, hoping not to rouse others from their sleep. She knew how groggy cats could be when woken up early. She nudged the young tom, gesturing for him to meet her outside the den.

She understood the need to stretch out and gather yourself before being fully ready to go, so she stepped a few paces away to allow her clanmate to do just that. She was glad for the excuse to get out, especially without an Asylum cat constantly on her back. Her newfound freedom still seemed unreal after all the time spent in captivity.

Lately, Kestrelpaw hadn't had a moment's peace where his mind wasn't nagging him about something or other. Even in his dreams his waking thoughts plagued him. It was seriously starting to get on his nerves, which was quite the feat in itself. He'd been feeling rather groggy as of recently, even when he'd gotten a decent night's rest. He wasn't sure what to even do anymore. He could always confide his problems to his family but they didn't seem to be doing so great either. He was a bit stumped on that end. With all that's been going on and all that had occurred these past few moons, he was ready to find even a semblance of normalcy in the very near future.

The brown tabby apprentice blinked away the glassiness from his vision as something suddenly nudged him awake. He lifted his head to give his attention to whoever had awoken him. All traces of sleep had almost instantly vanished as soon as he was able to fully recognize the figure. The young tom quickly sat up and offered a quick nod at Daisybloom's silent instructions. He felt a twinge of anticipation and excitement that was beginning to grow every minute that passed. Kestrelpaw left the den in a hasty yet quiet manner. He didn't want to arouse anyone from their slumber yet he wanted to meet up with the medicine cat posthaste.

As soon as he was in the clear, he gave Daisybloom a respectful smile as he stretched his limbs so they'd be in full working order. "M'here and ready, Daisybloom. I'm sure you feel the same way about how awfully good it feels to finally have things almost back to normal. The Asylum kinda messed it all up for a while." The younger huffed as he slowly rolled his head on his shoulders. Now that he was fully awake, he looked at the meddie with a light, expectant gaze.
