Copperclaws [Open/Hunting Patrol]

Copperfox noticed how different he felt lately. Ever since his fight with Dawnhawk and the birth of his kits, he found himself to both more bold than ever before as well as more full of worry. He'd had a few talks with Bloodstrike lately that made him think. He'd been so low on confidence for so long that he didn't realize what potential he had in him. Copperfox wouldn't have believed him only a moon ago... but fighting with his more experienced brother and beating him badly enough that an apprentice was able to chase him off had been an eye-opener. He was stronger than he realized and maybe even more brave than he gave himself credit for. Well, he was done acting like he wasn't worth what he actually was! He took in a deep breath as he stood in camp before he announced,

"I'm going on a hunting patrol if anyone would like to come!" A few warriors picked up their heads and looked at him. Some even looked surprised. The apprentice that had lost his voice after fighting a fox with his mother that one time was now yelling across camp for everyone's attention. It was a good feeling, albeit maybe still a little frightening. A part of him swelled with pride that he wasn't as afraid anymore. It only took several moons, a few unwarranted conflicts and an invasion of my homeland... but I'm finally acting like I should! A strong tom from a long bloodline of strong toms! He glanced towards the warrior's den, though he couldn't see inside. And she-cats... His mind traveled to Blossomstep and Smokefeather, though the latter worried him.

Once he thought he had enough warriors for a proper hunting patrol, Copperfox lead the team into the forest. He oddly found himself keeping his chin high and his shoulders back as Bloodstrike typically did. The best part was that it didn't feel unnatural. A quail ran out in front of his path and he immediately darted after it. It was too late to hide, but quails had proved fairly easy for Copperfox to catch in the past. Hopefully that would be the case as well with everyone watching. His jaws closed around the quail's head and he dispatched it with clean swiftness. Today was going to be a good day!
