Orangekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Strange times, same traditions. They could never be avoided, no matter how much the world around didn't seem like the best place for them to follow through. Once again, Minkstream stood on top of the High Rock. Once again he gazed over the frosted camp, eyes of Asylum burning into his pelt - though less than they used to. Almost as if they, too, were getting used to this. He tightened his jaw slightly, the thought crawling unpleasantly under his pelt. To get used to this.... No. We can't give in.

But what else could they do?

The thought niggled at his mind - a dark thread of despair winding through the determination that still hardened his paws - as he opened his maw, call ringing out with a breath of white from his lips. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the High Rock for a Clan meeting!"

OrangeKit was full of energy like most times so he dashed over and waited for the ceremony to begin

A small smile tugged at his maw as the little bundle of energy ran up, eyes electric and eager for the ceremony. Some things will never change. Kits being excited for their ceremonies is one of them. Keeping his eyes on the kit, he opened his maw again. "Orangekit, step forward."

When the kit had done so, he continued, practised words rolling off his tongue as easily as if he said them in his sleep. Which he probably sometimes did. "Orangekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and are now ready to join the ranks of ThunderClan as an apprentice. From this moment until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Orangepaw. Your mentor will be Shrikesong."

With that, and the calls rising from the crowd below the rock, he leapt back down again, joining in to call the apprentice's name himself and watching as Shrikesong touched noses with the little guy. She did well with Badgermask. I don't doubt she'll do a good job here, too.
