Dovepaw’s Starclan Dream

Starclan was so very elusive. Usually, Daosybloom held high revere for them, but even that was starting to slip. They had promised that they were in fact there, still trying to help, but besides that they hadn’t done much. They had found a way to communicate with the clans, and that was certainly a start, but in no way was that enough. Especially not now, when everything seemed to be crumbling under their feet. Still, it would have to do.

The protocol for these makeshift moonstones was this: an apprentice would feign being sick or injured to come into the medicine cat den, and fall asleep there. The tabby had given Dovepaw those instructions earlier today, and so now she sat on her nest, waiting for the apprentice to arrive. She yawned, tired from all of the work she had thrust herself into. As the tom entered her den, she nodded, gesturing for him to take a nest back there.

"Just try to get some rest." mewed the molly tiredly.

Dovepaw nodded to the tired she-cat. He didn't really know what to say other than that. He could tell that she was tired, but he wasn't good at bringing comfort to others so he just continued to the nest and settled down. Hopefully whoever he spoke to, if they wanted to speak to him at all, would have something useful to tell him.

The large white fluffy tom woke up to the starry territory. The familiar trees of thunderclan territory surrounding the tom bringing him some comfort. Who would be here to speak to him? He couldn't help the curiosity bubbling up inside of him.

A gray tabby was waiting in the stars, watching for the apprentice that he was supposed to guide. It was another ThunderClan apprentice, for who knows why. Couldn't the stars have chosen, say, a ThunderClan cat to give advice to this young cat? Well, I guess the cat who gave me advice was... Finpaw, a former ShadowClan apprentice. He sighed. I guess it's not that weird.

Once the apprentice appeared in the stars, the former RiverClan warrior spoke. "My name is Heronflight of RiverClan," he said, his voice assertive. "What's your name?" He didn't know what to expect from this apprentice. There was always a chance that the ThunderClan apprentice would have wisdom, just like Shrikepaw did. But still, it didn't change his goal to dispense wisdom to the clans. It's my duty as a StarClan cat to share my experience and wisdom.

A riverclan cat? They sent him a Riverclan cat? That was an interesting choice considering he was a Thunderclan cat.. but he didn't want to complain because this was Starclan after all. The large tom shifted uncomfortably a little bit before speaking up. "I'm Dovepaw." He said before adding, "Of Thunderclan though I suppose you already knew that."

Maybe they were sending him a Riverclan cat because of the whole Asylum situation. He hadn't had the chance to really see any of the other clans aside from that one gathering he went to a few moons ago. "What.. What are we supposed to do about this situation? How am I supposed to learn about the other clans?" He asked. He had been holding in some of these questions for a while but these were his dreams. He was safe here right?

Heronflight listened to the ThunderClan apprentice speak. Dovepaw, huh, he mused. What a nice name. Certainly better than those... Asylum cats. He didn't like Asylum. He especially didn't like indirectly being told that he and the rest of StarClan couldn't talk to their descendants. It was a good thing that StarClan had workarounds, which allowed StarClan cats like himself to still be able to talk with apprentices. At Dovepaw's question, Heronflight stepped back. He didn't think there was a way to learn from the other clans at the moment. He didn't see any way for

So, just tell him that. The clans have to be patient.

"At this point in time, there's no way to see the other clans. Asylum has too much of a grip on us." The gray tabby gave the apprentice a smile. "The only thing you can do at the moment is hold on to hope. Don't let go, even when everything seems hopeless. That's how the clans are going to weather this storm." That's all he needed to do. Give wisdom to a young apprentice, keep them believing in themselves, help the clans from the stars. Smiling at Dovepaw, the gray tabby began to fade into the stars.

What..? What did that mean? There wasn't a way for him to learn? There wasn't any answer to this Asylum situation at all? Just to hope? Green eyes looked confused as the Starclan warrior started to fade away. The big fluffy tom didn't call out, it was pointless. He wouldn't get an answer at all. He held his tongue and just watched as his dream started to fade before he woke up in the medicine den. Where all starclan dreams always this confusing?
