The Winter GamesDespite tensions among the Clans and Asylum, rumors have spread about a game meant to bring them closer together. The Asylum still rules with an iron grip… but why not have a little fun? A unique set of challenges designed to bring the Clans and Asylum closer together… What could go wrong?
Hi WCC! As stated above, there will be a unique set of challenges and games that will act as this month’s “gathering” and officially fill the requirement. Staff and I would like to give a special thanks to Tara for bringing this idea to us and making it come to life. With that said, lets move on to what these challenges are and how they’ll work!
The Games:
There will be one topic in each Clan for every rank (kit, apprentice, medicine cat, warrior/deputy, and leader) where the competition will take place. These topics will be overseen by Asylum and any high ranks for each Clan as well. Participation is not required, but in order to achieve the gathering requirement for this month, your character must participate in the challenge for their rank. Details about each challenge can be found in the spoilers below.
- ”Kit Game”:
Pre-killed prey is hidden in the snow around camp, and the kits must “hunt” for their prey. Players will type up a post of their kit hunting for prey around camp, and roll the effect dice to see the result. A roll of 1-4 results in an unsuccessful catch, while a roll of 5 or 6 means success for the kitten. Posts can then be edited to reflect the results of the dice. Regardless of the results, the RPer must wait for someone else to roll before trying to catch another piece of prey (a specific posting order will not be enforced). The first kit to catch three prey items is the winner for that Clan.
- ”Apprentice Game”:
Apprentices will hunt live prey. Apprentices will have three chances to catch the most impressive and hard-to-get prey possible for their Clan. For example, a hare would be the most “impressive” prey in RiverClan, as it requires a roll of 1 to catch. Rolling a 10 means the apprentice will spar with an apprentice-aged Asylum cat, who will use the same stats as Clan apprentices (20/80). Just like a predator, the Asylum cat can be “ran off” at half HP. The apprentice with the most impressive catch will be the winner. In the event of a tie, the two apprentices will get another chance to catch a piece of prey, and the apprentice who rolls the lowest (highest rarity) will be declared the winner for their Clan. - ”Warrior/Deputy Game”:
Warriors and deputies will have a tournament against fellow warriors and Asylum cats. To give all warriors a fair chance regardless of their tier, they will use a simplified system rather than the battle system. The goal is to pin the opponent. A series of three effect dice rolls will be used to determine the winner. The cat who has the highest total after three dice rolls will be the winner. RPers can roleplay their cats wrestling for dominance based on each roll of the dice. Asylum cats will fill in to make numbers even where needed, but otherwise, warriors will be sparring against themselves. Asylum cats will be unable to win, so in the event that your cat is paired up with one, keep in mind that they will have a disadvantage so that they do not end up winning. How this goes in character is up to the RPer. You will have 48 hours to post after your opponent before being auto-KOed for the sake of time. The winner of each spar will move on to spar with a winner of the same bracket until there is one winner for each Clan. Link to spreadsheet for organization: click me!
- ”Medicine Cat Game”:
Medicine cats will participate in a competitive herb hunt against an Asylum cat. The herb hunting system will be used in these topics, and the competition will work similarly to the apprentice games. Each cat will have three chances to find the rarest herb for their topic. At the end of the three rolls, the cat who has found the rarest herb (or the rarest herbs if more than one is found) will be the winner. In the event of a tie, there will be a final round where the highest rolling cat will be declared the winner. Medicine Cats will set up the herb rolls/rarity at the beginning of their topic.
- ”Leader Game”:
Leaders will have to guide a cat through a maze… non-verbally! Leaders will compete against one other Asylum cat, each guiding one of their cats through a maze set up by Asylum using various objects that will be removed after the games. The Leader and their opponent will sit up high where they can see the entire maze and use various methods (movement of the tail, ears, etc) to tell their cat where to go. The effect dice will be used to determine the outcome. A roll of 1-3 results in the cat going the wrong way, misunderstanding the Leader’s directions. A roll of 4-6 results in the cat going the right way, understanding their Leader’s directions. The first cat to roll successfully three times will be the winner.
The Prizes:
OOC Prizes: These prizes will be for the RPers of the winner in each challenge. One prize can be chosen for each “win” that an RPer has earned. - ”Get Out of Jail Free” Card: In the event that your murder/plotting/forbidden romance plot is discovered by an MC, you can use this card to get out of being discovered. Only good for one use. - Artwork of your character!
IC Prizes: These prizes will be distributed in character, and will wear away over time as they are temporary and made from nature. To be chosen by the character and gifted by Asylum - Asylum-Crafted Simple Wear: e.g. anklets made from fox pelts, headwear, etc.- up to the characters involved! - Vine Collar: A small, braided grapevine in a circle - ”War Paint”: Designs painted on the fur from clay/colorful dye from berries
Again, Staff and I would like to thank Tara for coming up with this wonderful idea and helping us bring it to life for you guys. If you have any questions or comments, please reach out to one of us and we’ll make sure to get everything figured out! Have fun!
