Fawnkit's Apprentice Ceremony

As more kits in the Clan came of age to become apprentices, Olivestar was overjoyed to be there to watch over their ceremonies, or to be the cat to do them herself. She was doing the latter today, as she made her way up to the top of the Tallrock, the path having become a muscle memory that her paws carried out each time she went to the top. The mentor the kit in question today in mind, the leader opted for brevity in the face of the frigid winds of the leafbare that was nearly upon them, and she called out the familiar summons.
"May all cats old enough to run the moor gather beneath the Tallrock!"

Fawnkit trotted to the center of the clearing with his head high and his chest puffed out with pride. His mother had told him which day this was. Finally, he and Snowkit would begin their training and become full warrior's of the clan! Over the past couple moons he had grown more adept and limbering around on his long legs. The Windclan blood in his frame was obviously interwoven with every little fur on the handsome tom's pelt. Blue eyes brimmed with determination and excitement for the moment to come. Already Fawnkit could picture beating back the enemies of other clans and sinking his claws into anyone who threatened his kin. So far the Asylum cats had continued to be tame but if any of them tried to harm the cats he cared for, well, the kit's claws were far more than tiny thorns now. Pads kneaded the earth. The kit seemed to have forgotten the brisk air that stirred the gathering pelts. Now it was time for them all to witness this momentous occasion.

The Clan had poured forth, gathering below at her beck and call, and she smiled as she saw Fawnkit join them all. She waited a little bit for the crowd to grow to a good size, and then spoke once more
"Fawnkit, step forward."

When the kit had done so, she continued.
"Fawnkit, you have reached your sixth moon, and it is time for you to begin your apprenticeship. From this day, until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Fawnpaw. Eagletalon will be your mentor, and may she pass everything she knows onto you."

With the final words spoken, she began the chant.
"Fawnpaw! Fawnpaw! Fawnpaw!"

Eagletalon stepped forward as was the custom of the clans and touched noses with her first apprentice accepting him as her apprentice. "Welcome to the path of a warrior." she said softly. She looked down at the kit that was nearly bouncing with excitement and smiled to herself, content with Fawnpaw. She had watched him across the camp before and had always known that there was something special about him.
