Yarrowkit's Apprentice Ceremony

With Wildflower having felt under the weather that day, Olivestar had stepped in to help with the apprentice ceremonies in order to give her daughter the chance to rest up. This was an exciting day, one of her younger children was old enough to become an apprentice, and she was more than happy to do the ceremony herself. The wind had taken on leaf-fall's chill, with the colder breezes speaking to the leafbare ahead, and the leader suppressed a shiver as she made her way to the top of the Tallrock. With the breeze biting a little more easily through her fur, she spent a little less time admiring the view and her Clanmates below, opting to get right into the announcement.
"May all cats old enough to run the moor gather beneath the Tallrock!"

There was a newfound resonance in the muscles, an assurance overwrought with newfound comfortability slipping through the veins. The soft fur that had once framed the delicate ridges of Yarrowkit’s austere features had given way to a firm and thickly-veiled pale coat, irrefutable evidence of his precarious treading between youth and juvenile. Hardly making a sound atop the soft earth of the camp, the young tom’s pale paws seemed to glide across the soft bed of upturned earth as he carefully settled himself in the center of the unfolding commotion.

The faintly cruel glint in his sharp gaze made it undeniable that he was likely the center of attention for the moment, a factor that brought the little tom immense pride. Angular point of his chin easily deflecting skyward as he cast a curious glance in the direction of his mother, the paled-furred little kit couldn’t help but give an overtly eager shiver. It was finally his turn- and it was Olivestar handling the proceedings, and not some other temporary authority figure!

The gray leader smiled as her son joined in with the crowd growing in the clearing below the rock, as she was sure that he knew that this was his apprenticeship ceremony. When the crowd had grown to an acceptable size, she continued.
"Yarrowkit, step forward."

When he had done so, she continued.
"Yarrowkit, you have reached your sixth moon, and it is time for you to begin your apprenticeship. From this day, until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Yarrowpaw. Hayglow will be your mentor, and may she pass everything she knows onto you."

She then returned to the ground via the familiar path, and went to stand beside her son as she started the traditional chant.
"Yarrowpaw! Yarrowpaw! Yarrowpaw!"

Dark gaze alight in the center of an angular face, nothing more than a vibrant pool of reflective molten amber, remained fixed upon Olivestar during the duration of the formal proceedings. It was difficult for the young tom to remain stationary during the ordeal, fidgety little spasms working down the hard length of his neatly coiled spine. Finally, finally, it was done! Tilting a sharp chin upwards towards his mother, it was only a few fractional heartbeats before the newly-named Yarrowpaw was quick to whirl around; eagerly searching the loosely sprawled crowd for his newly-anointed mentor.

It was difficult for the quarrelsome little tom to even find something to nitpick in the moment of excitement, everything else awash in the rosy glow of his awaiting newfound freedom. It didn't even matter that he would have to wake up early!
