 | | Staff Survey Results - My Response | |
Hey everyone! This is something I've considered doing the last couple staff surveys I've been around for, but I regret to say that I had decided against it originally. However, better late than never to start, and I do think it is a good idea for staff to be transparent in our responses to these surveys. So, here are my results and my responses to what I received. Please note that there are some things left out because of language that was used, but I do intend to address these briefly even if they are not directly quoted. Additionally, staff as a whole will be addressing the overall results and comments/concerns/suggestions on a general scale in a later announcement for you all  - General:
 Pretty even across the board, and honestly I expected this. I recognize and acknowledge that I am not as active both roleplay and staff wise as I once was, and to be totally honest it's more that life caught up to me. Earlier this year I took a promotion at work that resulted in about triple the work load, including me having to take work home. My son also started Kindergarten this year, so I've been having to wash and iron his uniforms, make lunches, and help with his (limited) homework. I didn't know kindergartners got homework, but I was wrong lmao I also recently applied and interviewed for a second part time job - so I've been stretched pretty thin the last few months, and despite my efforts otherwise it affected my presence on WCC. Unfortunately, WCC was one of the plastic balls among the glass ones I was trying to juggle, so I set it down until I could manage them again. Looking back, I wish I would have put up a member announcement, letting you all know that this was all happening, but I wasn't able to fully anticipate exactly how everything would impact my presence. For that, I apologize. I should have been more open and honest with you all, instead of trying to act like everything was fine. Things are starting to calm down, and we've got a bit of a routine down - so while I won't be able to return to my precious levels of involvement, it has been getting better, and I am working hard to return to a more fluid and even level of balance with both in character interactions and staff interaction. Thank you all for being so patient with me!
- Social Activity:
 The results here honestly surprised me. I thought they would be lower, and that is something that's been concerning me. I'm glad that things aren't quite so bad as I thought they were, but like I mentioned earlier I've created a routine for myself and my family and hope to bring those numbers up even more!
- Roleplay Activity:
 These results are more along the vein I was expecting. I don't have much more to say here than I already have, I am working to improve and hope to bring those numbers up with time!
Now out of the charts and looking to the personal comments and concerns - I've tried to break these down as best I can, in no particular order! All of these are direct quotes from the survey, I've made no alterations to them. - Performance:

Seemed a little out of touch prior to the additions of Lemon and Ripped on Staff, but that currently seems a bit less applicable- hopefully that means the bump up in general activity/interaction is permanent.

Most of this I addressed earlier under the General response - but having some fresh eyes and viewpoints have really helped to stoke the fire and bring back something that I had been missing before. I had hit a bit of a wall with ideas and plans that I had regarding site updates and implementing/altering systems (for example, the medicine cat classes and the clan archetypes), and having new members of staff bring forward their thoughts and revisiting each thing has certainly helped, along with getting my routine nailed down. I also hope that the general activity and interaction is permanent, and if not I will be more transparent with you all ahead of time instead of letting my pride be my downfall when I don't want to admit that I'm falling behind.

I have to assume this is regarding the recent decision(s) of staff. I'm really sorry to hear that you feel this way, and if you are comfortable with it I encourage you to come forward to me directly so I can explain my (and the rest of staff's) side of things. I can reassure you that these decisions were not easy ones, and took weeks of deliberation and attempts to avoid things coming to a head this way. I honestly want to do well by the site, I've been in the admin seat for almost a year now, and I love WCC with all of my heart, along with it's members. My goal has always been for WCC to be a safe, inviting place to everyone, and if I've failed in that mission I sincerely apologize. I'm always striving to better myself for you all, so if you feel comfortable reaching out to me I would love to discuss further with you so I can achieve my goal.

Those not directly quoted: I see you, and I do hear you. I want to be better, as a member, as staff, and as admin. However, I don't want to just wipe my hands clean of any issues I have - I want to address them and face them head on, and rise to the challenge. How can I better myself and how can I give back to the site and community I cherish so much if I do anything otherwise? My DMs and PMs are always open, please reach out to me and we can talk about things fully and I can take your feedback and suggestions into consideration as I look to the future. That goes for everyone, I want to be available and open for you guys. If you need to vent, chat, if you want an explanation for anything we've done or will do, please know that my PMs and DMs are always open. I can't promise I'll respond right away, but I do promise I will as soon as I am able, and will help you to the best of my ability, or just chat about the weather, if that's what you need at that time! I'm truly sorry if I've come off as cold or distant, I am looking to be more available for you all. Please don't hesitate to reach out, even if it's to question my or staff's decisions. Like I mentioned earlier, Staff as a whole is coming up with responses to the general statements and comments, so please be on the lookout for that once we get everyone's input on things <3 Finally, in regards to Ceryn being appointed as Staff recently. Initially, they were going to be added to the team at the same time as Ripped and Lemon, but due to circumstances outside of our and their control, we waited until the 5th. At the time of that discussion, I didn't even consider the fact that the staff survey would be ongoing, and I apologize for not taking that into account.
