Rematch [Twig]

Brighteye was hunting alone (as usual), but her mind was somewhere else. However, she was dragged out her own thoughts by a somewhat familiar scent. At first she struggled to place it, until it flooded her mind with the memories. Young, stupid, naive Brightpaw in the Pine Grove, loosing to a kit. The memory gave her a sour taste in her mouth. She whipped around, hackles raised, snarling a greeting. "So, we meet again, kit," she spat. She should have known better than to provoke the feisty rouge she-cat, but she couldn't help herself. "I think its time some-cat taught you a lesson about respecting your elders." With that, she leapt at the brown tabby, pinning her down.


Brighteye used Leap-and-Hold on Twig, costing 10 SP and dealing 8 damage. Is successful for two turns!

Brighteye was a little confused at the kit's attitude. Yes, last time she had won, but she was a warrior now - bigger, stronger, faster. She had trained hard, yet this rouge was laughing. "You may be young, but you are a rouge: you trespass, I attack you. I'm honestly surprised you haven't learnt that already." Being not a particularly heavy cat, Brighteye usually wouldn't have been able to hold another down for so long, but the brown tabby wasn't her full size yet. Even if she didn't really wan't to make conversation, maybe the kit would offer some information about something. After all, she was pinned and couldn't really go anywhere. "So what's your name? Do you have a leader? Or are you trying to scout out our territory for an invasion?" If the she-cat and her friends were planning an invasion  she would be hailed as a hero if she returned to camp with news of it.

Brighteye continued to use Leap and Hold on Twig, dealing 8 more damage.

At that question, she burst out laughing. "Scouting terri- leade- invasion?" She laughed. This was a real and true laugh, like somebody had just told a joke. "I'm a loner, loners don't got any groups! And I'm Twig." She said.

"So.. you have no honour code? No rules?" Brighteye was struggling to understand this rouge (Twig, as she had introduced herself). Her whole life was about the code, about honour, the structure of the clans. Kit, apprentice warrior - that's how it was for almost every cat, she had thought, some went further to become deputies or leaders, or become queens for a short while - or long while in some cases. This cat's loyalty was only to herself, she didn't even have anyone to be loyal to. She had no leader to obey, no mentor to learn from. If she hadn't been so disgusted and confused, she may have felt sorry for the she-cat. Everything about her was just so different, even the way she spoke. "What do you do with no system in your life? You have no structure, to your name or lifestyle. I'm Brighteye: I used to be called Brightkit, then Brightpaw, but now I am forever Brighteye, just like you will always be Twig." There was, of course, the idea of her becoming a leader. Her leadership skills were greatly lacking, along with her basic social skills. No matter how much her grandparents may want it, she would probably never become leader. Icegaze had missed his opportunity, and he had always said that her father lacked the ambition needed. Even now, with Greysky gone, it was still a fact he brought up to her many a time.

So caught up in the discussion, Brighteye slipped off Twig's back and landed a little hardly on the ground, not even considering another attack.

"You don't need no code when you're just tryin to live. And the clans make that kinda hard for loners!" She said, turning to look at the clan cat. She smirked, then ran forward without and scratched Brighteye, rearing up on her hind legs. She scratched at the cat's face over and over again.

Brighteye let her guard down. So invested in the conversation, she hadn't been expecting for Twig to launch an attack. She cursed the she-cat under her breath, but her well-trained reflexes saved her. As fast as she could, she slipped away from the attack, hoping that she could launch a counterattack. She was now behind the rouge, but she was too quick. Twig whipped back around before she could leap onto her back, now with the white warrior in the worse position.

Brighteye used Dodge-and-Fight, costing 15 SP and dealing no damage. Counter attack was unsuccessful!

She, again, charged forward and reared up, using both her front paws to scratch at Brighteye wildly. Her sharp claws caused the warrior to bleed a bit. She was ready for anything the warrior threw at her!

Twig's sharp claws slashed at her as the rouge reared up at her. Despite Brighteye's hopes, it was clear that she was no longer the kit that Brightpaw had fought. Blood showed up brightly on her white pelt, like prey caught in the snow. She reared up at the tabby she-cat, slashing at her with unsheathed claws. As she came down, she shouted at he opponent, "If you gain no honour from fighting, then why don't you back down? I'm defending my territory, but you have no reason to even be here." It was truthfully her little trick to avoid further humiliation: she had a chance at winning, but she couldn't loose to the same cat twice.

"You clan cats are always defendin territory! That's the whole problem! Things gotta eat to live, and with ya'll controllin all the territory, there's no place for us to hunt!" She hissed back. She ran forward, but this time she slid under brighteye and scratched her soft underbelly.

Now bleeding from a cut above her eye and a few on her shoulders, Brighteye snarled at Twig, "It's not my problem that you've got no territory. You should just find other places to hunt. There must be somewhere." Twig was now underneath her, scratching her soft belly-fur. Growling once again, she slipped under the tabby rouge as soon as she could. Trying to catch her off-guard, she raked at her belly, trying her hardest. She stood up as soon as possible and saw that Twig was about to launch another attack.

"Wait!" she said. "What if we compromise? Uhm.. I'll leave you alone, and you try not to trespass on Shadowclan land. Maybe try Thunderclan instead, their forests are more plentiful with prey anyways." Brighteye may have had a tendency to hold grudges, but she wasn't stupid. She was well aware she probably couldn't win this fight. A need for vengeance still burned inside her, but she cared more to save her own skin. Admittedly, her way with words wasn't the best and other cats (like Crowpaw, she thought) would have been much more convincing. She would keep true to her word though, and her words weren't lies. She didn't care about the other clans: she hated Gatherings, and usually stayed far enough away from the actual scent marker as to not bump into any other clan cats.

Twig raised an eyebrow. "Ya really think I'm gonna believe ya after ya attacked me twice?" The small cat said with a slight hiss. Her tail lashed as she leapt at the warrior and pushed her over. She bounced out of the way after she did this, ready for another attack.
