Leopardkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Stormbringer jumped up on the Willow Branch, taking a moment to stretch before calling out to her clan. "Let all cats old enough to swim gather here for a clan meeting!" The gray deptuy stood and waited for her clan to gather.

Leopardkit couldn't wait! Today was the day she was becoming an apprentice!!! Now she could go swim and catch fish with Flashpaw, and go outside the camp and see everything in the world! She bounced up and down impatiently as her mother tried to clean her fur. "Mother! I'm clean!" She said to Swiftswim.

Then the call came from outside the Nursery. "Let all cats old enough to swim gather here for a clan meeting!" Leopardkit leapt to her feet, her tail waving crazily.

"It's time, Mother, it's time!" Leopardkit squeaked. She bounced over to the entrance to the Nursery, looking around at all the cats gathering under the Willow Branch. They were gathering for her ceremony! She took in a deep breath and let it out.

She had to prove she was the best that Riverclan had to offer. She strutted out of the Nursery, her head held high, chest puffed out. Swiftswim let out an amused purr behind her and Leopardkit sent a short glare to her mother. What was so funny?

She and her mother were one of the last ones to come up to the Willow Branch, and they sat off to the side, where they could see everything that was going on. Leopardkit had to wonder - who would be her mentor?

Stormbringer watched as the kit she was about to name an apprentice get stuck by her mother for just a moment to make sure Leopardkit was clean. Amusement sparked in the deputy's eyes as she watched and waited for everyone to gather still. Once the young kit and her mother had approached, being the last, she felt ready to get started.

"Today we are gathered here to name another apprentice. Leopardkit please come forward." Stormbringer called the to be apprentice forward. Once Leopardkit weaved through the crowd and up to the front Stormbringer continued. "Leopardkit from this moment on, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Leopardpaw. I shall be your mentor. I hope you excel under my guidance." With that last word the gray deputy jumped down from the Willow Branch to greet her new apprentice.

Leopardkit's heart was pounding in her ears. This was it. This was the time. Stormbringer, Riverclan's deputy, was standing on the Willow Branch, looking out over the clan. "Today we are gathered here to name another apprentice," Stormbringer began. Then she looked at Leopardkit, beckoning her with her tail. "Leopardkit, please come forward."

Leopardkit's tongue was numb in her mouth as she padded forward, weaving through the crowd to come stand beneath the Willow Branch. Her heart was pounding, her throat was dry, and she felt like she could run for a hundred moons, as Stormbringer continued her speech. "Leopardkit from this moment on, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Leopardpaw. I shall be your mentor. I hope you excel under my guidance."

Leopardkit- no, Leopardpaw, almost squeaked as she realized Stormbringer would be her mentor. The deputy herself! The honor that came with that, only slightly less than being Ivystar's apprentice! She trembled a little as Stormbringer came down from the Willow Branch to meet her.

"Leopardpaw, Leopardpaw!" the clan called out, started by Swiftswim. Leopardpaw blinked and met Stormbringer's nose.

"I'll be the best apprentice," she promised Stormbringer, completely serious. She was determined to become Riverclan's best warrior.
