Strange haunts (closed)

There was a remark from Willowpaw, to whom he managed a weak smile; the apprentice didn't deserve the overwhelming dreariness that no doubt radiated from his pelt. Wrenspring fell back into his place, head lowered with the bird carefully held between his fangs. The silence gave a him a brief moment to remember the moments that now faltered his step. Despite the fact that he longed to seek out more prey and contribute to the weary clan, the warrior couldn't deny he was in no shape for such an effort. So, he resigned to lingering near the fringes of the ragged patrol group.

As the apprentice broke off, green eyes darted up to follow her. It seemed luck wasn't much on their side, given the lack of successful catches. But he found himself a spark of hope as there was a mouse scurrying across the stone. There was a flash and the creature was gone. Another swift moment and a yowl. In an instant, as if forgetting the agony that ripped through him with the motion, the tom rushed forward. He pushed between the younger cat and the predator, gritting his teeth at the pain that came before the attempt at a blow. A flash of claws quickly sunk into the scaly flesh. In an instant, the wriggling beast was dead. His sides heaved and the adrenaline of the moment began to subside.

Wincing, Wrenspring turned to his clanmate with concern flashing in his gaze, "Willowpaw, are you alright?"

Wrenspring attempted to use front paw strike it was.... successful! Dealing 11 damage and using 10 stamina.

The weird creature hissed and darted forth again, no doubt attempting another strike. Frantically, Willowpaw shut her eyes, a single tear sliding uncontrollably out of her eye.

Then, she heard a loud noise. Her eyes opened, and she saw Wrenspring standing over the dead creature. Its body was ripped open by the powerful strike. Willowpaw felt her eyes began to dampen again. No, no, no! I can’t start crying now, in front of everyone! Wrenspring is right here as well-

Against her wishes, tears began to stream from Willowpaw’s eyes. The fact that she had been attacked by a predator again-and on both of the hunts she had done-was too much for her fragile little heart to bear. She hated it, but she couldn’t stop the liquid pouring from her eyes, or the sobs shaking her body.
