Wisteriapaw's Warrior Ceremony

With Streamtail's recent notification that Wisteriapaw had excelled in her training and was ready to become a warrior, Ivystar padded over to the Willow Branch. In all honesty, she hadn't interacted with the she-cat all that much, but she knew that she could trust Streamtail's judgment, and if the warrior said that Wisteriapaw was ready, Ivystar believed her. "All cats old enough to catch their own fish, gather beneath the Willow Branch for a Clan meeting!" She called after leaping onto the branch, letting her fluffy tail dangle beneath her.

Wisteriapaw had just finished a hunting patrol and entered camp with a mouthful of prey as Ivystar called a clan meeting. I wonder what's happening, she thought, hopefully something exciting. She carefully padded through the seated cats to sit beside her mentor Streamtail, and looked to their leader, eyes sparkling with interest.

Once Streamtail and Wisteriapaw had both gathered below, Ivystar cleared her throat and began. "We are gathered here today to celebrate the promotion of yet another dedicated apprentice. Wisteriapaw, it is Streamtail's belief that you have surpassed all expectations, and are prepared to take on the responsibilities of a warrior. If you believe this to be true, step forward." The fluffy she-cat's bright emerald eyes were shining as she looked down on the apprentice, waiting for her next move.

Wisteriapaw was excited at the idea of a new warrior, as it might be one of her friends. Or me, she considered happily. She was not expecting, however, for it to truly be her turn. Streamtail's belief, she thought, that must be me. The silver leader confirmed it by meeting the apprentice's eyes after her announcement. Today's the day! This is it! Shaking out her pelt one last time, she bravely stepped forward.

"Very well," The she-cat mewed, nodding her head slightly. "I, Ivystar, leader of RiverClan, call upon our warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Wisteriapaw, do you promise to uphold the Warrior Code and to protect and defend the Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Her words felt a bit cold, but she truly was proud of the young she-cat- as she was any apprentice who had earned their warrior name.

Wisteriapaw sat in amazement as her leader conducted the ceremony. There had been few warrior ceremonies recently, but she knew what to answer to her words. A simple two words, but to every warrior it felt like so much more. Swallowing, she met Ivystar's gaze once again. "I do," she mewed. She truly meant it. Even though she may complain sometimes, she was still dedicated to her clan, and would do anything for it. Nothing could stop her bein a warrior now. Nothing.

Ivystar nodded at the she-cat's promise, taking a breath before completing the ceremony. "Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. From this day forth, you will be known as Wisteriabloom. RiverClan honors your honesty and dedication. Tonight, as tradition demands, you will hold a silent vigil while the rest of the clan sleep. Until then, however, we celebrate the rise of a new RiverClan warrior." Ivystar leaped from the branch, making her way toward the newly named Wisteriabloom and resting her muzzle on the young she-cat's head.

Streamtail's tail flicked in joy and excitement as her apprentice, Wisteriapaw, finally reached the age of a warrior. Smiling as she received her warrior name, Wisteriabloom, Streamtail chanted along with her other Clanmates.

"Wisteriabloom! Wisteriabloom! Wisteriabloom!"

After Ivystar congratulated the newly-named warrior, Streamtail rushed forward and started purring, overjoyed. This was the first time that she had been truly, truly happy in moons. "Congratulations! You'll have to sit vigil for tonight, but the nights in green leaf are always cooler. I have a feeling that you'll be having your own apprentice soon!"

Wisteriabloom. She repeated the unfamiliar name in her head, a name that was now hers. Streamtail seemed so proud of her as she called her new name, and she hoped that Applefang saw her and was proud of how far his ex-mate had come since his death. But she was a warrior now. More responsibilities, but also more freedom. The future vigil barely crossed her mind, but she knew she'd be fine staying up all night. "Thanks Streamtail," she mewed with a smile on her face, "Thank you for being an amazing mentor. And if, like you say, I get an apprentice soon, I hope I can be as good mentor." Just like the short agreement of her ceremony, she meant every word of it. Lightning the tone a bit, she gave the silver she-cat a playful nudge, "What's the worst that could happen?"
