Amber Waves

Clearstone shook scraps of moss from his pelt as he rose from his nest, the soft rays of sunlight beginning to rise above the horizon. Everything was bathed in a warm glow, and the warrior took a moment to himself to breathe deeply, taking the sight in. Today, he would be taking Amberpaw out to train. His usual morning routine would not be forgotten, however, and he figured it was a good of a time as any to introduce his charge to a new exercise regimen.

With sure, deliberate pawsteps, he made his way over to where the apprentices slept and hissed, "Amberpaw, meet me at the entrance to camp. It's time for training." She would join him soon enough, so he padded over to the entrance to the WindClan camp and sat back on his haunches to wait for her.

Well, Clearstone appeared to not have figured out, yet, that Amberpaw was very, very much awake already. A pair of clear green eyes snapped open from their closed state instantly upon hearing the call. She had woken up much earlier, but hadn’t shown it outwardly.

Amberpaw leapt to her paws in a quick bounce, springing out of the Apprentice Den. Quick as a squirrel running up a tree, she shot off across camp, coming to a stop beside Clearstone. Her head tilted as she watched him carefully, wondering what would happen next.

His ear flicked as a vague look of amusement crossed the pointed tom's face as he watched his apprentice leap up and sprint towards him. Excellent, she was already in the mood. Almost leisurely, Clearstone rose to his paws. He stretched out his legs for a moment, staring straight ahead, out at the moor and the grasses waving softly in the early-morning breeze. Perfect weather. Dark eyes flickered over to Amberpaw, a deep purr of mischief rising from his throat. It was rare for Clearstone to seem playful, but that he was. "Keep up. ...If you can." came his meow, and then the lanky warrior was off like a shot, sprinting out into WindClan territory as if a monster was right on his heels.

Early-morning runs were one of Clearstone's favorite things to get himself ready for the day and it gave him great joy to know that he'd have an apprentice to share in his hobbies. The young warrior was tall and long-legged and fast as a jackrabbit; hopefully Amberpaw wouldn't lose him in the grass.
