The first of Bloodstrike and Smokefeather's kits, Wolfcall's own grandkits, was ready to become an apprentice. It made the deputy feel both very proud and very... well... old, that the children of his children were already on their way to becoming warriors. Truth be told, he wasn't that old - both himself and his only son had just been very young fathers, and that wasn't a bad thing. They were strengthening the clan with every kit brought into the world, and despite his own current issues with his own father, Wolfcall was happy to give Beechkit her apprentice name, and mentor, today. "Let every cat old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Tallbranch for a clan meeting."
Beechkit lifted her head from her spot near the nursery at her grandfather's voice. If Wolfcall was calling a meeting, there was one thing she knew it was most likely to be. It was no secret that there were quite a few kits that were about the age to be apprenticed, it was only a question of which would be apprenticed today.
Beechkit stood, and made her way over to where her grandfather had called the meeting. Would it be her or one of her siblings, today?
It didn't take long for the camp to become abuzz with excitement, as it usually did, when an apprentice was to be named. He let his eyes fall on the fluffy apprentice who was the center of today's excitement, her sleek silver tabby pelt shining in the moonlight. "Beechkit, please step forward!"
He smiled down at her, "Beechkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is now time for you to be apprenticed. From this point forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Beechpaw, and I will be your mentor. I will do my best to pass on to you, everything that Foxfire taught to me." He dipped his head and then dropped elegantly from the Tallbranch, landing in a crouch. "Training starts in the morning," he told her, reaching forward to touch noses with his newest apprentice.
Beechkit stepped forward, excitement running through her. She thought, or hoped that she'd managed to keep most of it off of her face, but it shone through dark yellow-green eyes nonetheless as she touched noses with Wolfcall. "Okay." She mewed in response. Beechpaw couldn't remember being this excited for much else before, honestly. She'd finally get to see the forest, not just be confined to camp!
Somewhere in the back of her mind, it also occurred to Beechpaw that she'd been made an apprentice before Dawnkit. She would have been more apprehensive that he'd use that as an excuse to continue being an irritating thorn in her side, but she really didn't want to focus on that right now, and was trying not to pay the thought any more mind than she'd already given it.
