Alien Lands

Muscles ripped underneath the sleek pelt of his opponent. Bloodstrike, in a display of impressive strength, brought himself half-way to a standing position. Iniko, in the true spirit of the spar, had not intended to draw any blood. However, keeping his grip proved to be an unusual challenge. His feathery tail lashed behind him as he re-positioned himself slightly. The Skyclan warrior hissed below him and it drew a low laugh from the rogue who leaned forward, "A clan is only as strong as its weakest cats. Relying on numbers is a foolish tactic, and I'm sure you already know that."

His claws tore into the flesh of the other tom's shoulder, not truly seeking lasting damage but more in an effort to stop the furious struggle beneath him. Bloodstrike, in all his hefty might, did prove to be a worthy opponent. As he scored the fur and flesh, Iniko continue to speak lowly, "I will show you I am not just a sorry body to be tossed away, Bloodstrike. I can only hope that you'll see me as a worthy opponent, or perhaps even a companion. That decision is up to you."


Iniko continued to use leap and hold, dealing 9 damage. Bloodstrike is held for 1 more turn.

He felt his opponent's balance become unstable and shook himself like a dog to cause Iniko to simply slip off. He winced as Iniko's claws tore into his flesh, undoubtedly in an attempt to hang on rather than actually seriously hurt Bloodstrike, but still.

"I'll let you know how I feel once this fight is done. Come at me again!" He snarled, his head dropped low to guard his throat and he hunched his shoulders to push as much fur and the bit of fat he had on his around the back of his neck for further protection. If Iniko tried to land a lethal blow, Bloodstrike would not hold back either.

Bloodstrike is no longer stunned.

Finally, Bloodstrike was able to shake him off, a feat that wasn't usually easy. Iniko darted away, light on his paws. He whirled to face the Skyclanner once again. Already Bloodstrike was urging him forward with another dare. Another flash of a smile was across his maw as he watched the guarded position. It would be difficult to break such precaution easily. After only a brief pause, his mind was set. There was no use in delaying the spar between them. Blood already stained his claws and a strained thread of peace kept the pair from tearing into each other. Inik's gaze was even and cool while Bloodstrike snarled and his fur bristled. Besides their vastly different backgrounds, they were an odd pair.

He ran forward, rearing to box his paws into Bloodstrike's maw in an attempt to daze him. After throwing the heavy blows, showing the strength hidden beneath his pelt, he quickly drew back to protect his stomach from a counter attack. The loner paced backwards, rounding the side of the clan cat. Curious green eyes bore into the other tom as he meowed, "I can feel we're both using our strength quickly. I'll admit you are a fun match. But it appears I'll have my answer sooner, rather than later."

Iniko used rear up to slash, dealing 11 damage and using 12 stamina.

Bloodstrike kicked off the ground in an attempt to jump away from Iniko's blows and land claws across his face, just to get even for the scratch between his shoulder and neck.

Alas, his claws missed. With a hiss, Bloodstrike landed beside his opponent, knowing full well he'd lost the fight most likely. Still, he wasn't about to make it easy for Iniko to flatten him. He was going to have to work at it.

The clan can was quicker than his stocky frame might have eluded to. He managed to dodge the flurry of claws directed towards his maw. Iniko had prepared to distance himself and it appeared to have been a smart move to prevent a counter attack. But this wasn't over yet. Once again he slipped underneath the other tom's stomach, darting quickly enough to score his claws lightly across the exposed stomach before slipping out the other side. Tail flickered and he met Bloodstrike's eyes as he prepared for an attack in return.

Iniko used half-turn belly rake, dealing 11 damage and using 20 stamina.

Bloodstrike braced for the slice on his belly, which was much lighter than he thought it would be. Some of his fury cooled off for now, Bloodstrike launched his last attack. He would never go down with giving his all and a spar was no different.

There came a final flash of claws from his opponent. The rush of the other tom's power had truly been exhilarating but there was a finality to the move as Bloodstrike drew back. What he had said earlier was true, both of their strength had begun to fade due to exertion. Their spar was drawing to a close. Iniko learned forwards into the attack instead of pulling back and launched himself towards the other tom. He reared once again, battering with his front paws before falling back to all fours. A half smile twitched the edges of his maw. It wasn't a smug smile. Rather one of simplistic satisfaction, "It's been quite some time since I fought like that. Thank you. Hopefully our duel meant something to you as well."

Bloodstrike took his final blow like a warrior should. He weathered the blows against his body and his face, then inhaled a deep sigh. His body was tired and he had found himself more outmatched than he had expected. His tail lowered, a sign of surrender. When Iniko spoke, it wasn't anything that Bloodstrike thought it would be. The conversation was still light and the rogue turned out to be more gentlemanly than he took him for.

"I agree Iniko. Thank you for teaching me a very important lesson: Never underestimate anyone. I'm glad I learned this in a spar against you, rather than in a fight for my life." And with that, Bloodstrike tipped his ears forward in a respectful nod. The sting from the slashmark where his collarbone would have been if he had one made him wince. It was that tiny bit of pain that reminded him that rogues were still not to be trusted entirely.

"I suppose lone cats have to fight a lot more, and a lot more fiercely than clan cats." He admitted with a shrug. The white she-cat's body still flittered in and out of the darkest corners of his consciousness. It wasn't an image he could ever forget.

As Bloodstrike accepted defeat, he could feel the pair of them both drawing back in a since. The pair of toms was resigned, energy expended for their intensive spar, and settled a fair distance from each other as they spoke. Iniko felt himself blink slowly as the other cat displayed recognition of the loss and seemed to absorb the blow as a learning experience. There was more to Bloodstrike than muscle and mass as he had assumed. He tipped his head slightly as he responded, "I'd be up for more sometime. It is always wise to refresh your skills."

He offered another nod at the final remark. There was a flick of his tail as he considered their exchange for another moment. Without a doubt, he planned to cross paths with this clan cat once more, especially given how their spar had ended. It would be wise to see where their relationship could go. Iniko said nothing for a moment, simply sat there with a neutral expression across his maw. The calico flicked his tail as if summoning the words from his maw, "You're right. It's for that reason it is wise to build your allies. Should you need any assistance achieving your goals, Bloodstrike, know you have someone who will help. Perhaps we will be able to do more than simply spar each other in the future."
