Smokekit's Apprentice Ceremony

It seemed like every other day, there was a new kit ready to be apprenticed, and Wolfcall was loving it. SkyClan hadn't seen this many kits in a long time, certainly not since he was deputy, and it was getting harder and harder to figure out mentors for them as the options dwindled. Every warrior in SkyClan, he trusted with his life, with the life of his kits, but matching personalities was often easier said than done. Today, he would name Smokekit's mentor, and it had taken some deliberation but he was sure he'd gotten it right.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Tallbranch for a clan meeting!" he yowled.

Upon hearing the deputy's call, Smokekit sprang up. It seemed like there was an apprentice ceremony nearly every day recently, and it was bound to be her sooner rather than later, right? Three had been a general air of excitement about the nursery as each kit received a mentor, and Smokekit was no different.

The fluffy kit padded towards the tallbranch and sat, gray-green eyes looking up at the deputy.

"Smokekit," Wolfcall greeted, nodding kindly at the kit as she approached. "Please, step forward."

Waiting until she did, the deputy sat, curling his tail around his paws. "Smokekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is now time for you to become an apprentice. From this day forward, until the day you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Smokepaw. Your mentor will be Sunflower. I trust him to pass down to you the things he learned under his own tutelage, and the things he's learned since." Wolfcall bowed his head in congratulations to the lanky tom, and then slid down off the Tallbranch.

Smokekit stepped forward. At last!

Smokekit-- no, she was Smokepaw now, ducked her head slightly. She was unused to having the attention directed at herself, but the momentary discomfort was quickly drowned out by her excitement. She mentally ran through what she knew of the car named as her mentor, which admittedly, wasn't much. Sunflower and Smokekit-- paw, had seldom crossed paths. Still, the new apprentice would be eager to learn from a fellow clanmate as her gaze sought out Sunflower in the crowd.

Hearing his name called, Sunflower made his way over to his new apprentice. Legs shaking and long tail tucked under his rump, the tall, lengthy warrior bent down to touch his apprentice's nose. "We st-start training to-tomorrow," he said meekly, bringing his head up.
