Day one [closed]

(This takes place before the plague)

The sun was barely a line above the horizon, and the sky was was growing lighter with every passing minute. The air held a chill and a thin mist was spread throughout the forest. As much as Robinloft likes sleeping in, she knew she had to wake up early today. It was the sunrise after Frostpaw's apprentice ceremony, and the first day she was going to take her new apprentice out for training. she was both excited and a bit nervous as she walked to the fresh kill pile. She pawed through what little there was, as the patrols hadn't yet gone out. She took a moment and picked out a two sparrows, one for Frostpaw and one for herself. Walking over to the apprentice den, she poked her head inside and looked for her apprentice. When she spotted the familiar pelt, she carefully walked across the den, careful not to step on any tails or paws. When she finally arrived at Frostpaw's nest, she dropped a sparrow next to her and softly prodded her side. "Hey, Frostpaw" her voice a whisper. "It's time to wake up! Come to the camp entrance when you're ready."  She turned to leave the den, making her way to the camp entrance. She quickly ate her sparrow and patiently waited for Frostpaw to arrive.

Frostpaw yawned. She blinked as someone called her up, hazel eyes shifting to brown as her eyes half opened with sleep. “Hmm?” She grumbled, still bleary eyed. Suddenly, she remembered that today she would be training with her mentor. “Oh! I’m up!” Frostpaw called, slightly embarrassed. She padded out of the apprentice’s den, spotting Robinloft eating a sparrow. She spotted another one beside her mentor. “Is this for me?” She asked.

(not gonna use hunting system in this specific post in case of failure, as Robin is trying to teach ^^))

"Yes it's for you, who else would it be for, the ants?" She chuckled, turning toward the camp entrance. She waited a moment for Frostpaw to finish her meal before exiting camp, making sure her apprentice was following. "Today we'll be hunting" She called over her shoulder, excitement clear in her voice. Padding deeper into the heart of Thunderclan territory, she checked behind her every now and then to see how Frostpaw was doing, until she came to a halt and turned to face her. "This is where we'll be hunting, I'll teach you the hunter's crouch, and then you'll be able to try catching your very own prey! We might do a bit more hunting afterwards and then circle back to camp." She explained.

Lifting her nose into the air she took in the scents of the forest, trying to find a recent scent of prey. It wasn't long until the smell of mouse hit her nose. 'Perfect! a great example to teach Frostpaw how to hunt.' She looked at her apprentice. "Sniff the air, what do you smell?" She asked. Once she got an answer from Frostpaw she continued. "You should be able to recognize the scent, it's mouse. You've most likely eaten one before. I'm going to teach you how to hunt a mouse. You should be able to kill any other prey this way as well" Dropping into a crouch, she looked at Frostpaw, "First you get into a crouching position like how i am now. Then, you creep forward" She whispered, crawling across the ground toward the mouse. "Make sure you step lightly, as mice can often feel you pawsteps. Also make sure you tail is low, but not dragging on the ground. Watch me closely" After saying those words, Robinloft crept forward and launched herself into the air and landed her paws squarely on the mouse, killing it quickly. "See, whenever you're ready, you jump on the prey and kill it" She meowed, hiding her prey away for later. "Now you can try!"

Frostpaw looked at Robinloft’s demonstration. She mimicked it as best as she could, belly to the ground but not too low, and tail in the air but not too high. She spotted another mouse, then slowly padded towards it. Frostpaw found the right timing, and leaped high into the air to land on the mouse, trapping it. Then, she killed it with a blow at the head. Probably killed it. She guessed that this was how they killed mice and other prey, but she wasn’t so sure.

Frostpaw attempted to catch a mouse, catch was successful.

"Great job! Not many cats get it on their first try." She praised Frostpaw. "Now you can put your new skills to the test and help catch more food for those back at camp." Robinloft gave a quick nod to her apprentice before turning the opposite direction. She scented the air once more before catching a whiff of lizard. "Not the greatest tasting prey but it'll do." Once she caught sight of the small reptile, she sneaked up behind it and slowly crept forwards before jumping into the air and landing on the lizard, finishing it off with a quick bite to the neck.

Robinloft successfully caught a lizard, costing 3 SP

Frostpaw saw a thrush pecking on the ground. Carefully, she stalked it, hoping to not let it sense her. Then, she pounced. She trapped the bird beneath her paws, then smashed her paw in it’s head, killing it.

Frostpaw attempted to hunt a thrush, catch was successful.
