| Another hot green-leaf day was over, marked by a brilliant yet oh-so short sunset. After parting ways with Peaches and Otterpaw a few days ago, Night had returned to his quest of finding and speaking to Ridgelight, though not being able to enter ThunderClan territory was quite the obstacle. Sniffing around the border could only do so much, and though he had managed to faintly pick up her scent once, it was too deep in the trees to follow. By all logic, approaching ThunderClan's camp didn't pose much of a threat; they always were offering to take in loners and rogues, a mindset which he appreciated, but his nerves said otherwise. Entering a clan's camp again, in all honesty, scared him, despite Leopardstar's kind demeanor. He would prefer to avoid it if possible. So, once the sun had fallen below Highstones and twilight gave way to evening, the pitch-black tom left the stone he had been napping on and crossed the scent lines, trekking down along the riverbank yet again. First, he had to get through the SkyClan part of the river, and picked up his pace; he didn't take Tinystar's threat of "kill on sight" lightly. He only stopped for a minute once he reached the lowly bush where his daughter Jaysong and her mate Falcongaze were buried, offering a prayer and a single daisy before moving on. Soon enough, he reached Sunningrocks and the stepping stones and lifted his nose to sniff the air; shock nearly knocked him off his paws. Ridgelight?! Green eyes widening instantly, the lanky tom spun around, catching sight of a small cat's form leaping back towards ThunderClan across the stones. His heart beating quickly, he waited until she had touched back onto solid ground before calling out; "Lo, Ridgelight!" Breaking into a trot, he smiled; what luck! After this last moon or so of searching, he had finally managed to catch up with the rambunctious she-cat. As her calico colors came into view, he greeted her with a friendly flick of his tail, stopping a comfortable distance away. "Long time no see, young one. Do you remember me?" ______________________________________ |
