Dadspirit takes his kids on a field trip (CLOSED)

Crowspirit flicked his tail in anticipation as the four cats headed out of camp. “Alright, why don’t we make our little hunting trip into a game? We’ll split up into teams of two, and the first team to catch three pieces of prey total and make it back to camp wins!” He grinned, looking to the apprentices for approval. Really, sometimes, he still acted more like an apprentice than a grown warrior, in his love of sport and need for affirmation, though he was never a cat to put his games above the needs of the Clan. Oftentimes he managed to find a way for them to tie together, and then every cat enjoyed themselves.

Smallpaw watched from where he stood as his father walked toward the camp entrance. He quickly followed, his short legs struggling to keep up. He kept pace next to Crowspirit, listening to his idea. "Sounds g-great." He nodded. " What t-teams will we be split into?" He asked, his eyes starting to sparkle. It'd been a while since he'd played a game. The camp was always either mourning or busy. It was nice to be productive and have fun at the same time.

Speckledpaw grinned. She hadn’t been hunting before! “I’ll take whoever!”She excitedly said, all her fears and worries shifting away.

"I'll go with you Specklepaw!" Maplepaw said, excitement bubbling inside of her.

Crowspirit nodded. “Then I’ll take Smallpaw. Why don’t we head opposite directions so that we don’t scare off prey the other team is trying to catch?” He bumped Maplepaw playfully, an eager purr in his throat. “Just be careful, and try not to run into trouble. Ready? Go!” He started off towards the left of camp, at a steady lope to make sure Smallpaw could keep up, continuing until he scented something. “Rabbit. In that gorse bush, sheltering from the snow. You go on, see if you can find anything else. I’ll try to get this one.” His voice was low, though quivering with excitement as he crouched in the snow and stalked forward. The rabbit spotted him, and lurched forward, but the gorse that had given it shelter now served as a cage, and the prey was hardly out of it before he caught up and gave it a quick snap to the spine. An easy kill for him, a quick death for the rabbit. Just as things should be. He turned, and headed forward to catch up with his son, though he stepped quietly, eyes sharp, in case Smallpaw had found something.

Speckledpaw smelt rabbit and bounded towards it. she quietly padded towards the rabbit and pounced. She landed on the rabbit and struck it forcefully killing it and burying it.

Maplepaw was following Speckledpaw when she darted off.  She had probably scented prey.  Maplepaw kept walking, figuring that her sister would catch up.   Soon she smelled prey.  It was a rabbit.  Maplepaw stalked it and got near it. When in range, she leaped for it.

Smallpaw grinned as the teams were decided and slit up. "Nice! Toms against she-cats." He meowed. As his father began counting down, he braced himself for the moment it he said go. When he heard the final word ring into the air, he sprinted after Crowspirit, grateful for the fact that he had slowed down so he could keep up. Crowspirit began slowing down, letting him know that there's a rabbit in a nearby bush and that he should go find some prey as well. He nodded and sniffed the air, eventually picking up the scent of a rabbit. Looking around, he found it, sitting at the mouth of one of the many tunnels that flooded the Windclan moors. Thankful that the wind was on his side, he crouched down and waited for the exact right moment to pounce. He leaped into the air and landed his front paws squarely on the small rabbit, hearing it squeal for a moment before he finished it off. He took the prey back to where he and his father had just split up and buried it, seeing that he too had caught a rabbit.

Speckledpaw buries the rabbit and headed of to find maplepaw. She didn’t want to leave her alone on the woods.

Maplepaw had not caught the rabbit. It had darted into a burrow. Maplepaw spotted her sister a few fox-tails away.  She wanted to ask her if she had caught anything, but she wanted to keep trying.  She wanted to win the contest.

She smelled another rabbit.  She snuck up behind it, thankfully the wind was blowing towards her.  The rabbit couldn't smell her.   She crawled up close enough and pounced.
