Robinkit's Apprentice Ceremony

“Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!”


Nettlefire watched as cats entered the clearing. It was time for another apprentice to receive a mentor.

Nettlefire smiled this time. It was a much happier occasion than her previous-- and first-- apprentice ceremony. It was a new apprentice getting a new mentor. No one had been lost, no one had to be replaced. There was no grief to be had, no unpleasant emotions she had to re-confront. It was all-- fine.

Robinkit perked her ears at the sound of Nettlefire calling for a clan meeting. She scurried from the nursery, her tail trailing behind her. She sat down at the front of the growing group of cats and looked up at the Highrock, her eyes full of sparkle. She was finally going to be an apprentice!

Nettlefire waited until the kit came into view, and gave her a smile and a nod as she settled towards the front of the assembled cats.

"Robinkit, please step forward," she began. "You have reached the age of six moons. You are ready to become an apprentice. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Robinpaw. I will be your mentor. I promise I'll do my best to guide you on your way to warriorhood and pass on to you all the things my father taught me,"

Nettlefire smiled, and went to greet her new apprentice.

Robinkit stepped forward when Nettlefire asked her to. She was practically shivering with excitement when she heard him announce her new name. "Robinpaw..." She quietly repeated to herself, too quiet for any other cat to hear. She curiously looked back up to the deputy to find out who was going to be mentoring her. Her eyes widened when she heard that Nettlefire himself was going to train her. Thunderclan's own deputy as her mentor! How exciting! When her new mentor came down to greet her she reached up and touched noses with him. "I can't wait for training!" She meowed.
