Deerkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Foxfire sighed as he scrambled up the familiar truck that held the Highbranch, carefully stepping onto its weight as he moved to take his somewhat...Familiar place upon it. He had slowly been getting used to the height, even taking some...Terrified trips into trees in the territory proper as a way to try to get used to it. It still caused his stomach to flip and twist, but slowly it was becoming...Manageable. Even if he really wish he never had to step paw on the thin bark again. "Let all cats old enough to climb trees gathering beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!” he called out once he was certain his weight was even, letting out a soft sigh. The sooner this ceremony was over and he was back on the ground, the better....

Deerkit wriggled away from the nursery where Murkpelt was cleaning him. Today was the day! He'd be becoming an apprentice. Deerkit ran through the crowd excitedly before he was in the very front.

Foxfire smiled as he saw the spotted pelt of Deerkit escape from the nursery, racing up to weave their way to the front of the gathering crowd. "Deerkit, please step forward," he called out, giving a slight nod of acknowledgement to the young kit's excitement. "Deerkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Deerpaw. I will be your mentor." There was a slight wince at the announcement at that - he already had two but both Stormpaw and Wolfpaw were nearly done with their training already and the lack of warriors made it hard to pick anybody else. He wasted no time from scurried down the tree - still not having the inner strength to hop down as he approached the young tom with a soft smile. "We'll start training soon," he promised.

Deerkit perked up as he became Deerpaw. He puffed up his chest in pride and smiled when Foxfire was going to be his mentor. Foxfire was his older brother's mentor. They could train together! "Sounds great!" Deerpaw mewed excitedly.
