Oh, Hunting [Open]

Stormbringer was tasked with leading a hunting patrol. Which she was happy that she was given such a task. She was glad her deputy could see her skill and loyalty to the clan, glad she could show it to her clanmates. She was always happy to share or skill or show it to others. Her amber eyes looked back at the group of cats she was bringing with her. She figured fishing would do them some good, even if the water was a little higher than normal. Plus hunting at Sunning Rocks would give them a chance to hunt for something else if they wanted. She knew there were some creatures that found their home in the rocks. It would be worth trying for.

Once they reached the rocks safely she nodded to the others. "Okay we are free to hunt. Stick close so if we get trouble from a predator or Thunderclan we can help each other out." She told them. She wanted the others to find a spot for them to hunt before she took up her spot.

Much to Mudfrost’s disappointment, even a warrior didn’t get to lead every patrol assigned to her. It was to be expected, as she was among the youngest RiverClanners to have their full name—but still. She kept an impatient pace a pawstep behind Stormbringer, faltering when she realized just where Stormbringer was leading them. When given a choice, she’d kept her distance from Sunningrocks since the day she’d hurt her leg climbing them. As patient as that medicine cat had been with her, Mudfrost didn’t want to run into her again during a patrol. Or ever, really. It hadn’t been one of Mudfrost’s prouder moments. As Stormbringer dismissed them, the calico looked up, down, side to side. Not a trace of ThunderClan. With how close they were to the border, that could change in an instant. "They won't stand a chance," Mudfrost said, already striding toward the riverbank.

When it came to hunting land prey, she was good enough to pass Berrycloud’s assessment, but not good enough to show off for a patrol. Besides, she wasn't tangling with those rocks again. She settled, watching her prey dart from place to place, the tip of her tail twitching just above the ground. One of the tinier fish began to drift closer. Casually raising a paw, she weighed the pros and cons as if catching it was a sure thing: Small prey didn’t feed as many cats, but it was a greater challenge. Apparently, not too great for her. She flipped the fish onto the shore in one smooth motion, then turned to kill it before it could toss itself back into the river. With a self-approving huff, Mudfrost left it there, a promising start to any patrol.

Myrtlebrook padded quietly after the other two she-cats, grateful to be able to get out of the camp a little and stretch her legs. Being a warrior was wonderful. Although she didn't have an apprentice yet, she knew it would come in due time. She had been spending almost all of her time with Berrycloud and although she loved him dearly, it was nice to have a little one-on-one time with her friends. She smiled as Stormbringer and Mudfrost spoke softly to one another. "I don't think ThunderClan will be a problem today," she meowed, glancing over at the two with a purr of amusement. "The water's getting colder as Leaf-bare approaches, if ThunderClan shows up we can just knock them into the water. Then they'll be sorry."

The young warrior waded into the stream by the rocks, far enough away from Mudfrost so that they wouldn't startle the fish they were trying to catch. She was a skilled fisher, something she had proven time and time again when she hunted with Berrycloud. Hopefully today she would be lucky but if not that was okay too. She wasn't trying to prove herself, she didn't need to. There was a flash of silver in the water and Myrtlebrook poised to strike, her paw hovering just above the water with her claws unsheathed. Just as she was about to bring her paw down, a growling noise sounded from near the rocks and a skinny, mangy raccoon came waddling into view. The tabby molly gasped, springing out of the water onto the shore towards the beast. "Stormbringer, watch out!"

Her ear flicked as soon as she heard the growling behind her and the call of her name. She quickly spun on her paws turning to face the raccoon that had appeared to disturb their hunting. "Oh fish guts..." As soon as her amber eyes landed on the figure it looked disturbingly similar to the one Honeytongue and her fought before. She wasn't certain on it but it was the feeling her gut gave her.

She wasn't going to let this creature get away this time. She was going to make sure it died this time. She didn't need a raccoon hunting her down every time she went hunting. Launching herself forward into battle the Riverclan warrior dug her claws into the Raccoon. A loud and resentful snarl leaving her.

A growl from behind broke Mudfrost’s focus. Nearby, a splash informed her that Myrtlebrook had left the water to face whatever it was that had found them—not a ThunderClanner, to Mudfrost’s surprise, but a ragged-looking raccoon. ”We’ll be knocking something into the water,” she mumbled as she turned. One raccoon versus three fully-named warriors, especially one who’d never lost a fight before. (Granted, Mudfrost had only been in one, and she hadn’t won it either, but for the moment, that was irrelevant.) She’d been right; it didn’t stand a chance.

Stormbringer went after the raccoon with a startling fury—vengeance, maybe. Taking advantage of the raccoon’s distraction, Mudfrost bounded forward and swiped at its side. Her claws caught briefly in its tangled fur. She sprang away with a grimace. It was important to be careful in any battle, but the stakes were higher here; predators didn’t care about the warrior code.

Mudfrost used Front Paw Strike on Raccoon, dealing 8 damage and using 10 stamina.
