Edge of the Sky [Closed]

With Tinystar's - Tinylegs? He wasn't sure if he ought to refer to him by his warrior name currently or until he fully became an elder - announcement fresh in his mind, Foxfire had decided a walk was needed. He had excused himself from what remained of the Gathering, a struggle to convince Basilpaw not to follow him and give him some time alone. But now he walked, head down with no clear path in sight as he thought... He trusted Tinystarlegs' choice to step down, he trusted Spottedleap to make a great leader but something about it...Left him uneasy. Spottedleap hadn't been deputy for very long, he couldn't imagine the weight that rested on his mentor's shoulders. How would the other leaders feel of a deputy of a single Gathering now sitting among them? He wasn't envious of Spottedleap's position, that was for sure. He sighed, taking in a deep breath - a scent hitting him and causing him to stop.

Huh, he had somehow managed to blindly stroll all the way to the ThunderClan border and had barely managed to stop about a fox-length away from crossing. His fur prickled with embarrassment that he had almost crossed the border on accident, wondering if that ShadowClan apprentice he had fought had accidentally done so...StarClan, he had really messed up. His Clanmates didn't seem to think so, that the apprentice had been deserving of it but...She had been on her way back and if he had kept his cool for a couple more heartbeats and just walked away... He paused, glancing out to where the border snaked around the ThunderClan territory - toward High Pines and where the ShadowClan's marsh laid. He wondered how she was doing, he hadn't tried to give her any lasting wounds but...

Foxfire's attention was snatched away at the sound of rustling and pawsteps from the ThunderClan side, realizing that he wasn't about to be alone for long.

Mistwalker's soul still felt shattered from the loss of Marshkit. How could this happen? Why? He hadn't eaten much from the prey pile, or at all recently. Sometimes Oakstar and Grayleaf would make him but...  Rustling by the Skyclan border. A bright orange pelt, barely a foxlength from the clear ThunderClan border. Oh, buddy no. He wasn't about to let any Skyclanner come close enough to smell ThunderClan. If he didn't teach them now, they could come back later. And hurt his family. And, well, Mistwalker wasn't about to let that happen, now was he? With a mighty bound, he tackled the opposing tom, baring a snarl. Despite his lack of strength from food, he still was a strong cat. "Quite near the border, don't you think, Skyclanner?"

Mistwalker used Run and Tackle on Foxfire, using 10 stamina and 9 damage!

Foxfire yelped as a sudden grey mound of fur leapt at him, paws scrambling to find purchase to keep himself from tumbling but had no such luck. He hit the ground hard, wincing as he struggled to make sense of what just happened...Before he stared up at the snarling tom with wide eyes. "What?" he gasped, barely understanding the words - in the sense that it made no sense. So what if he was close to the border? "Can't a cat just take a walk in peace?" he snarled, anger rising in his stomach.

At least when he had fought that ShadowClan apprentice, she had been in the wrong and she knew it - and he had stopped the moment she was back on her side of the border. This tom however had crossed the border to attack him. He lashed out with strong back fett to create a some distance, slashing with his front claws for added effect, scrambling to his paws as he bared his teeth at the tom. "Are you crazy? I wasn't going to do anything! You've crossed the border, you know!"

Foxfire used Rear-Up to Slash on Mistwalker, dealing 11 damage and costing 15 stamina

Mistwalker stumbled back, anger bubbling inside him. He wasn't going to let any cat come close to his kits, his mate, his family, he wasn't about to just stroll on by. Let this cat go back home to Tinystar, tell him to stay away from ThunderClan. And even if they did, he'd kill them nine times over before they managed to get to anyone he cared about. And even if this so-called Starclan was real, he'd kill them again up there. "I. Don't. Care." Was all he could say as he reared up on his hind legs to attack.

Mistwalker used Rear Up Slash, dealing 11 damage and using 15 stamina!

Foxfire's whole body went slack for a moment the saw the emptiness yet chilliness in the tom's eyes, his snarled response. The anger in his chest flickered with panic as claws raked down his shoulder and face, barely managing to turn away so that nothing major was hit. This wasn't good...This wasn't going to be an easy fight to win, not if the tom wasn't willing to listen to reason. He stumbled away, his fur prickling as his eyes nervously flickered back and forth as he struggled to come up with an idea.

He couldn't just flee...Well, he could but SkyClan was already in a shaky situation. Besides, this tom had crossed the border and he had to be taught a lesson, if Basilpaw had been here instead of him... The panic died as anger and rage roared in his chest, a snarl escaping him. Oh no, he wasn't going to let this tom think he could push SkyClan around, not if it put Basilpaw in danger. "Fine then," he spat as he dropped into a crouch, throwing himself at the tom - leaping over him and landing square on his back. His claws dug in as he tried to force him to the ground, ears flat on his head. "Stay. Down."

Foxfire used Leap-and-Hold on Mistwalker, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina. Lasts for 2 turns.

Mistwalker hit the ground with an oomph, too stunned to move for a moment. He bit his tongue on accident when he went down, and a slight bit of blood trickled out. "Let go of me!" He struggled against the other tom's grip and weight, though failing.

"Not until you calm down," Foxfire hissed in response, keeping his muscles tense in case the tom tried to do anything but he seemed honestly stuck beneath his weight. StarClan, he couldn't believe the tom. Was he even...? No, a quick taste of the air confirmed that the tom reeked of ThunderClan, he had to be a ThunderClan warrior but...Foxfire had thought better of Oakstar and his warriors - but he doubt Oakstar would be please to know about this situation. He shook his head, tailnub twitching as he waited to see if the tom was going to calm down any.

Foxfire continues to use Leap-and-Hold on Mistwalker, dealing 9 damage. Mistwalker is stunned for one turn.

Mistwalker hissed, digging his claws into the ground. No! I refuse to let anycat come near my territory, my family, my kits!" The struggling slowed. "I will not allow anycat so much as a flying chance of hurting them!" The memories of that day were nearly too much to bear. He couldn't protect Marshkit. But by golly, he would protect the others.

...Oh. Slowly, Foxfire's grip started to lessen as he realized what the tom was shouting about. It was for the exact same - er...Nearly the exact same reason that Foxfire had attacked back. "...I'm not going to hurt your family," he said, trying to damper the embers of anger that still lingered. "I didn't even mean to end up this close to the border, I got distracted and..." he sighed, shaking his head as he dug his claws into the tom's back just a tad more, lowering his head as he tried to read the tom's face. "How about this - I'm going to let you up. I vow I have no plans to even touch your territory, much less your family. I'm going to go back to my camp, get patched up...And I recommend you do the same."

With that, he bounded from the tom, marching a fox-length away before he turned to stare at him, muscles at the ready in case the tom tried anything...But other then that, was giving him a free pass to flee.

Foxfire continues to use Leap-and-Hold on Mistwalker, dealing 9 damage. Mistwalker is no longer stunned.

Mistwalker's claws made long, deep scrapes in the dirt as the other tom started to let him free. How did he know that? That the red one wasn't lying? ...But, he supposed it was quite logical. Logic. He needed to think with logic. No random Skyclan cat would have any interest in kits he didn't even know existed. They weren't in danger right now. It was even against the code to hurt a kit, right? Slowly, Mistwalker got up and stepped back into his own territory, dipping his head into what he hoped was an apology and a thank you.

Foxfire didn't let his muscles loosen until the tom was back on his side of the border and seemed...Almost regretful of his actions? No, that wasn't it, but at least he seemed accepting of Foxfire's vow. He sighed, returning the head dip before turning and marching back into the woods...Not fully relaxing until the tom was out of sight. Dear StarClan, perhaps he should just stay away from borders if this was his luck. He wasn't sure if this was worth reporting to Spottedleap...No - he had enough in his paws to deal with. Foxfire turned his head, giving his shoulder wound a lick, before wincing.

It...Didn't seem deep, he didn't think it would scar. StarClan, he hoped it wouldn't scar. He broke into a run, heading toward the SkyClan camp. What was Sagelight going to think of him, returning once again so soon. Barely a warrior and had already gotten into two fights - granted that one wasn't really his fault. He shook his head, sparing a glance over his shoulder, hoping that the tom would get whatever was weighing him down sorted out before it lands him in real trouble.
