A Clever Fox [Open]

With his body low on the ground, Foxkit carefully stalked toward a wayward leaf that had been blown into the SkyClan camp. He was off in a corner near the nursery, playing by his lonesome. He had thought about asking a few of the other kits to play with him but in the end, had decided to simply work on his hunting technique. If he was going to be a great warrior, he had to perfect it! Of course, he was already pretty good if he did say so himself. His yellow eyes glimmered as he came to a stop, trying to judge the distance between himself and the leap...His stump of a tail wiggled as he dropped into a crouch before he let out a playful squeak and threw himself with the grace of a fish on land toward the leaf.

His paws, to his credit, nailed the leaf straight-on...But his momentum was to much and hadn't prepared to actually be able to stop as he found himself rolling head over tail-stump with a startled squeal. Finally, he rolling came to an end and he stared dazedly at the forest canopy that stretched above him. Slowly, he glanced down at his paws, his whiskers twitching in pride at the sight. "Ha! I caught the foul leaf!" he boasted to the air, raising the paw that had the leaf speared through one of his tiny, kitten claws. He rolled onto his feet with a smug air of victory around him... before he frowned down at the leaf that still remained attached to him. "No, wait, get off," he hissed softly, shaking his paw as he struggled to free himself from the leaf which simply refused to 'let go.'

Gazing lazily across the camp at a small, red-furred kit, Beanpaw’s tail flickered slightly. He’d been enjoying the Greenleaf sun despite the heat that was only worsened by his thick, long fur. He couldn’t help but let out a slight chuckle as he rolled out of the nursery, head over paws until he came to a stop just a few small steps away from the black and white apprentice. Lifting his head abruptly in surprise as the small kitten squeaked at the leaf, he gently pierced the leaf with his own claw, pulling it off of him. Using his other paw to push it off, he pushed the leaf towards him with a smile. ”What’s your name?” He asked, yellow eyes scanning the fox-like kit with wonder. ”I can teach you some more hunting techniques if you’d like.” He offered with a smile.

Foxkit nearly jumped out of his pelt at the apprentice's suddenly appearance, having completely failed to notice him to his own shame. He watched as the older tom helped remove the leaf, before letting out a happy squeal as it was returned to him. He jumped onto his paws, batting at the leaf for a few seconds before the apprentice's words caught his ears. His gaze flickered up, his yellow eyes shimmering. "I'm Foxkit!" he said, attempting to lash his tail for effect...And only caused the nub to twitch somewhat. Then there was a pause, his eyes widening at the apprentice's request. "Yes! Yes that would be awesome!"

When Foxkit’s eyes widened, Beanpaw grinned. It was like he had his own apprentice, except... He was a kit. But nonetheless, he got to his paws, shaking the dust out from his fur as he stood towering aboce the younger kit. ”Well, first you’ll want to drop down into a crouch, just bend your legs to where your chest is nearly touching the ground, like this.” Beanpaw dropped down into his own hunting crouch, the fur of his chest grazing the grass underneath him. His yellow eyes shifted to foxkit, waiting for him to attempt the new move.

Foxkit bounced on his toes as he waited for the apprentice to get up and prepare for the makeshift lesson. This was so exciting! Foxkit always knew he wanted to be the best warrior when he grew up but to get his lessons early? His whiskers twitched as he listened to the apprentice's explanation. As Beanpaw dropped into the crouch, Foxkit did his best to copy...Even if his form was a little shaky. At first, he nearly dropped entirely to the ground, feeling the grass on his stomach before he corrected himself until his chest was just barely grazing the ground. "Like...This?" he asked, nervously shifting his weight all over his paws as he attempt to make sure he was doing it right.
