You may remember that on July 6th we put up a poll for users to decide if they wanted a way to earn an extra slot. As stated in that thread, former admin Pikachu made the suggestion which inspired the possible change, and good discussion was held between members and staff alike.

Once staff gauged the initial response to the suggestion we were in favor of implementing it; however, one of the things that the recent staff survey stated was that changes and site updates seem sudden and that there is no time to prepare for them. To try to avoid making the change feel sudden or undisclosed, we elected to put up a poll to let the members vote to implement the suggestion with one slot, with two slots, to not implement it, or to implement it in some different way.

The results of the poll were overwhelmingly in favor of implementing the extra slot, and after a staff discussion and some time we came to the conclusion that allowing one extra slot would be the most welcome, maintainable change to character slots in light of recent changes to ranks and requirements.

The Roleplaying Rules will be updated to reflect the change, and they will give instruction on what the slot is and how to earn it.

You may have a fourth special slot if you have a Tier 5 Warrior or a Tier 4 Medicine cat. After the transition of the new ranking system, any roleplayer with a Tier 5 Warrior or Tier 4 Medicine cat may have the right to use a fourth character slot.
→ This fourth character can be a kit, an apprentice or a rogue/outsider (in this last case, you can't rank them up and if they wish to join a clan, they MUST start as apprentices).
→ You may only make this character a warrior if you get rid of one of your three main characters (it doesn't need to be the Tier 5 warrior).

Roleplayers will officially be able to create their extra character right away provided they have posted their proof in the Ranks threads. We will be checking the authenticity of the ranks for anyone seeking to create an extra character.

We hope you guys liked this process of decision-making, and more importantly we hope you like this new rule! We're hoping it will be a fair compromise for both casual roleplayers and rank-grinders.
