Border Kerfuffling [closed]

Mosspaw had darted back towards the bush, collecting more cobwebs and moss and sticking them carefully to her back. Hopefully the fight wouldn't last long... It was better to be prepared though. She surveyed the field, noticing Ferretpaw with a wound at her blind side and winced, preparing to make her way towards her when she saw she was still facing a SkyClan cat. She paused, and then Batbite caught her eye, her opponent having been the one that started the accusations and made the first move which led to this mouse-brained battle pelting away. She huffed, shaking her head as she ran over and tended to the she-cats wounds quickly and deftly.

Mosspaw used Minor Heal, restoring 3 HP and costing 10 stamina.

Well, if there was ever a time to try and impress Leaftwirl, now was it. Unfortunately, such a grand gesture wouldn't and couldn't possibly work for the likes of him, which he would quickly find out.

Leaping forward at a ThunderClanner, Sunflower sliced at the tom with unsheathed claws. Instantly, he regretted ever getting involved and with his large ears pinned back and tail tucked between his legs, the abnormally lengthy warrior began to shuffle backwards, his heart racing. Great StarClan, this was the end for him, he just knew it.

All three apprentices, gone, just as soon as the battle started. Leaftwirl was glad for their safety, but found she was still in a predicament of her own. Fierce yowls meant her ears as Lynxtail attacked once more, pummeling her face with strong paws, sending the warrior flying back into the fray. His insults to SkyClan hurt more than the wounds his claws left, and the brown tabby found she couldn't think clearly. How was she going to tell Tinystar SkyClan had lost in a border skirmish? Before, she had been reserved, civil, trying to avoid more bloodshed if anything. But Leaftwirl could see Wolffang's face now, taunting her for surrendering, searing her mind with words like "inadequacy" and "failure." Leaftwirl had never won a battle, no. But she would make StarClan proud. She would make her mother proud. The blood that stained her muzzle only seemed to jumpstart her heart once more, and there was nothing left to fear. The apprentices were safe. Mosspaw was no longer being attacked, and out of the corner of her eye, she witnessed Sunflower throw a swipe at their enemy. Finally, you big oaf. Now we can tell Tinystar you actually fought!

Ducking under Lynxtail before he could throw another swipe, Leaftwirl spun under him, fur brushing against blood-stained grass as she ripped at his underbelly. A piercing yowl came from her throat as she clawed, letting out all the rage and pent up frustration she held for her warrior ancestors. Are you watching, Wolffang? Do you see me fight? Rolling out from under the warrior, Leaftwirl found her paws again and prepared to face him, but found her legs were shaking. The warrior's brown tabby pelt was now matted with crimson, slicked to her frame. Her yellow-green eyes shone wildly, but her strength was fading. Stay, or run? She had done her damage, but now ThunderClan stood in a row in front of her, faces she only knew from gatherings, claws unsheathed, and teeth shining in the light. Mosspaw stood a ways off, paws stained with herbs and blood. Leaftwirl meant her eyes for only a second, and immediately felt the regret of hurting Lynxtail so. They each had their clanmates, and each cared for them fiercely. But the blood she spilled from Mosspaw's clanmate, was just another wound she needed to fuss over. If StarClan was to be proud over this, then they were mousebrains. "I'm... sorry." Leaftwirl choked, spinning away and limping back to camp, defeated. She gestured for Sunflower to follow, knowing his wounds would need tending to as well. How could she possibly be the best warrior, if she didn't know what it meant to be one?

Leaftwirl used Belly Rake on Lynxtail, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina. Leaftwirl has fled the battle.

At first, Swallowpaw believed that the she-cat was about to grab him by his tail and toss him around again, but much to his surprise, she padded forward. His hackles raised as he noticed her expression, but his claws remained sheathed just in case. He didn't want to fight anymore, even if it made him seem like a coward. Skyclan was clearly losing the battle, anyway. She meowed her name, Ferretpaw, and advised him to flee before the monster of a cat reached him too. The tom shuddered as he stared at the figure, looming over poor Leaftwirl menacingly. He was lucky he got stuck with a cat just about his size; imagine if he had to go against that. Poor Lightpaw; hopefully his soft-spoken brother was okay. He hadn't seen the extent of his injuries yet. Ferretpaw booped him on the head, which didn't help his headache, but he said nothing regarding it.

"I'll be sure to tell Amberdawn that-" a desperate cry rippled through the fighting. His head whipped around immediately, scanning the battlefield for his brother. There Sandpaw was, his shoulder bleeding heavily as he stood there, paralyzed and helpless. His amber eyes widened as he stared in horror and shock, his ears pinning back. Who..who had done that to him? He took one final glance at the Thunderclan apprentice, meowing quickly before rushing over to his brother's side, "Swallowpaw. I hope we can meet on better terms." He was at the nearly identical cream tabby's side in an instant, supporting him on his uninjured shoulder and leading him from the battle. "You mousebrain!" he hissed, voice filled with concern, "I told you not to do anything, and yet you did! Now you and Lightpaw are hurt and..Starclan you're so stupid." Swallowpaw's jaw snapped shut and he said nothing, fur bristling angrily at his brother's stupidity. He acted all cocky and high sometimes, but the Skyclan apprentice truly did care about his family.

Swallowpaw has fled from the battle.

Lynxtail hissed as he felt sharp claws tear at his underbelly. He'd never seen that move used before, although he hadn't battled Skyclan in a while.
Wincing as he felt hot blood run down his legs, the warrior turned to face his opponent, adrenaline dulling the pain almost instantly. "I- what?" Instead of a fierce enemy, Lynxtail found himself facing a ragged, completely exhausted warrior. The Thunderclanner felt a stab of pity. This wasn't a battle he could be proud of- this felt wrong.
I'm... sorry." The Skyclanner mewed.

The tabby was too shocked to respond, and by the time he'd come to his senses, the she-cat had disappeared into the undergrowth. He turned to the others wordlessly, his flanks heaving and his eyes wild. Everything felt wrong. Although he'd won, the tom found himself unable to feel triumphant or proud. He settled for feeling... nothing.
The white fur on his stomach was stained pink with blood. "Let's go." He mewed roughly.

After making sure Mosspaw was taken care of, the bulky warrior was prepared to launch himself back into the scuffle in order to make sure no other cats were harmed. The medicine cat already had her paws busy, healing both her attacker and other's who bore wounds from the quick border battle. Just when it seemed like most of the enemy patrol had begun to retreat. An abnormally lanky warrior with massive ears darted forward and unsheathed his claws. The sting of claws hardly cause little more than a blink from the tom. He'd felt the pain of battle before, many times, and even succumbed to damage from his own ungodly paws. Besides, despite the Skyclanner's size, he seemed to bear the strength of a kit. Without thinking much of it, Beartooth instinctively let out a hiss and launched forward as quickly as his frame would allow before lashing out with his own claws. He sprang slightly, pinning the other cat under his paws and digging in.

"Your clanmates have retreated. Coming near our borders was a mistake."

Beartooth used Leap and Hold on Sunflower, using 10 stamina and dealing 11 damage. Sunflower is held for 2 turns.

Once she had tended to Batbite's wounds, Mosspaw surveyed the battle again. All three apprentices were gone, and she met the eyes of her friend Leafpaw as the she-cat turned to retreat further into SkyClan territory. Hesitating for a moment, wondering what she was supposed to do, she took a paw step after her. "Leafpaw! Wait!" She sprinted after her, crossing the border to catch up. Upon reaching her side, she mewed quickly and quietly. "I can't let you leave injured like this. Here, I won't take long. I'm so sorry." Her paws moved quickly, shaking as she tended to her friend's wounds which had been made by her clanmate. Oh stars, this was terrible... What a ridiculous fight that was. Once cobwebs had been stuck in place and she was relatively satisfied, Mosspaw nodded and met Leafpaw's eyes. "It's been a while, Leafpaw. You should come visit sometime, or find me at the Gathering, okay? I miss you. Take care of yourself, and good luck keeping those apprentices in check." She trailed off as she thought back to the apprentice that had attacked her, and winced at the memory of his wound. She hoped he was alright. As quickly as she came, she left, returning to her side of the border to begin treating her clanmate's wounds more thoroughly - but was surprised to see a single SkyClan warrior that had stayed back during the fight suddenly run forward and attack... Beartooth? What was that tom thinking? He was going to get himself hurt! "Beartooth, the battle is over! He's the only one left, please let him go!"

Ferretpaw began to walk back with the rest of her clan and was about to check on Lynxtail when Mosspaw cried out. She looked across the clearing and saw Beartooth clutching the last of the SkyClan warriors in his dangerous claws. She understood Mosspaw's concern, what with Beartooth's massive stature and formidable strength, and she walked to to the tortoiseshell's side. "He has a right to be angry," she whispered to the medicine cat, "That apprentice attacked you. But, even so, Beartooth is honorable... I think he just wants to scare the poor guy." She shuffled closer to the medicine cat, gritting her teeth. It was, admittedly, hard to watch, but SkyClan had started the fight. Not everyone was as forgiving as her.

Under the tom's weight and now fearing for his life, Sunflower tried to wriggle free, but his efforts were in vain, and with each movement, Beartooth's claws dug further into his sides. How did he even get tangled up in this mess? All he'd wanted to do was hunt for his clan; nothing more and nothing less. But here he was, helpless, per usual, and staring into the eyes of his imminent demise.

"Y-you foxh-heart!" the lengthy tom cried, tears streaming down his cream stained face, his heart racing and breathing growing shallower with each passing second. Maybe he cried from the terror that stood above him or from the pain that struck him with even the slightest of movement, but either way, he didn't care. Great StarClan, was this really the end for him? At the paws of some ThunderClan cat? He should've expected a death fitting for his cowardliness, but he didn't think it'd come so soon...

Mosspaw looked to her side as Ferretpaw padded up to her, and nodded slightly as their pelts brushed. "I know he does... And that mousebrain attacked him first, when the battle was almost over... But I hope Beartooth lets him go. There's no sense in continuing this pointless battle..." She murmured quietly, just loud enough for Ferretpaw's ears. She suddenly remembered Ferretpaw's wound and gasped, turning to face her. "You got injured too, here, let me get something on it, I'll have to take a closer look once we get back to camp to make sure it doesn't get infected, but in the meantime, this will have to do. I'm sorry I can't do more." Gently pressing what remained of the moss onto the wound, she then placed the cobwebs so they stuck to the fur around the gash, wincing as she did so. "I'm so sorry Ferretpaw, my paws are shaking, did I hurt you?" She mewed worriedly as she finished placing them and stepped back, gazing at it and then to Batbite with a sigh. The work was rather subpar, and she couldn't help but wish she knew more, and could do better.

Confusion was written over the warrior's face for a moment. This cowering creature had attacked him and in defense of himself and his clan, he was being called a foxheart. Beartooth was never the one for much humor, something that had continued to die as he moved further away from kithood. But his whiskers twitched slightly as his head tilted. Raising one massive paw, the warrior slammed it into the side of his opponent's face, allowing the claws to drag along his cheek with one fluid and thoughtless motion. It was only the call of Mosspaw that snapped his from thoughts of further battle. Hopefully this over-sized kit had learned its lesson and would retreat with the rest of Skyclan. He stepped off, eyeing Sunflower warily as he padded back to join the rest of the patrol. If the pale and white coated warrior dared to cross or attack anyone other than Beartooth himself, he would be left with more than a couple scars.

Beartooth used Leap and Hold on Sunflower, using 10 stamina and dealing 11 damage. Beartooth released Sunflower; Sunflower is no longer held.

Being clawed along the snout was not a forgiving feeling, that was for sure. Wriggling out from under the tom's grasp, Sunflower shuffled backwards, almost landing on his rump. Blood dripped down his face and onto the forest floor bellow, sending a sharp sting through his veins. Not wasting any time, the SkyClanner turned and hightailed it after his clanmates, not wanting anymore of this fight. Were all other clans so ruthless?
