No One Tells You How to be a Mother (OPEN)

The new and inexperienced queen opened her eyes, sleepy and tired. She might be a senior warrior by now, one of the best at leading patrols, hunting and fighting yet kitting... she was a newbie. The birth had been a tough one despite only having two kits and even now, she wasn't sure of what to do. Her green eyes looked at the small shape of Hawkkit, who recently learned how to walk clumsily. How was she supposed to take care of such a little and fragile creature? Did this kitten really come from her? Hailsong shivered by a sudden breeze of cold that came from outside the nursery and without thinking too much, she curled her thin tail a little tighter around the small tom-kit and his sibling, Beekit. Despite not having a real clue of what to do, some of her motherly instincts were starting to rise and deep inside, she knew she couldn't leave her kit to suffer the cold leaf-bare. "I wonder when will it end..." She mewed to herself, waiting for her mate to arrive or maybe one of her family members. There was no doubt that Jaystar would love to see his newest grandkits soon.

Hawkkit snuggled closer to his mother as he felt the chilled air of the empty nursery. He was aware enough of his surrounding to figure out that nobody but he and Hailsong was there. As he pressed himself against his mother, he found himself relishing the softness of her fur. After a moment he started to squirm around, trying to find the milk that brought more warmth and life. He kneaded her side, looking for the milk. He eventually found it, and started to suckle, drinking the rich creaminess. It wasn't long until Hawkkit open his small mouth in a yawn, curling himself up next to his mother.

Beekit shook her fur and squirmed closer to her mother, nudging her brother Hawkkit lightly in the process. Though mostly numb to sensation due her relative youth, she squeaked indignantly at the brush of his fur against her ears. She longed for the warmth of her mother's milk, not the furry pelt of her brother.

Blizzardshell entered the nursery, a nice mouse in his jaws. His blue gaze held warmth as he stared at his two kits. He sat down next to his mate and nuzzled her gently. "Are you tired love? I brought you something to eat." meowed the warrior with his smooth tone of voice as he nudged the mouse to her. He then turned back to look at his two kits. Beekit and Hawkkit. Lovely bundles of fur. He gave them each a loving lick before giving a quick lick to Hailsong's cheek. The warrior couldn't have been happier. He had two precious kits and a beautiful mate.
