Mother's Love [OPEN]

OOC: Regime cats can join if they want, but let's have the ShadexAn family post first-ish please~

Basically the kit's eyes are gonna open for the first time (I heard kittens from the same litter's eyes tend to open at the same time) and they're gonna name them and stuff im tired and it's almost midnight whatever

IC: It wasn't long after An first confessed her admiration for Shade that she found herself with his kits.

The four kits looked just like their parents. Most of them were mixed shades of black and brown, though the largest one was bright gingers and whites. They were crowded around her paws, squirming around on the rough metal surface of the dumpster. Their eyes weren't opened yet, though most were almost there. It was her old families' tradition that they waited to name the kits once they had fully opened eyes. The tortoiseshell didn't know if the Regime would have approved of such an odd custom, but she held onto it. It was her tradition. 'It was Yin's tradition,' she thought with a pang. Her old mate was long gone; he had abandoned An. Why should she care about him? She forcibly pushed away all memories of the brave black-cat and focused on her kits.


After a bit of time of cleaning up the week-old kittens and guiding them away from the broken glass they tended to blindly wander close to, she noticed that one of the kit's eyes were almost completely open, sweet amber eyes showing through, stained around the edges with the blues that came with any kit's eyes (all the cat's in the litter seemed to have amber/brown eyes, also kit's eyes are tinted blue when they first open). She quickly swept a fluffy tail- with was no longer matted and bloody with Shade taking care of her- and brought the kit close to herself, rapidly grooming it's soft fur with soft strokes of the tongue. "Shade, come quick!" she yelled, keeping her excited gaze on the confused-looking kit. "Their eyes are finally opening! We can finally name them, and play with them, and all sorts of things!"

Stalking around the small makeshift camp he now ruled as leader, searching for a specific cat to order to go hunting with a small patrol, he heard his mate's call and rushed to the dumpster where she laid on. He leaped up to join her side and glanced down at the four kits he was able to call his own.

This was always a new feeling for him, but... he didn't exactly hate it. Was it... Was it this 'love' thing that cats kept talking about? He couldn't recall the last time he had ever felt love -- if he ever felt it at all. Not for someone, or by someone. Sure, there was Sweet, but he couldn't exactly feel the love from her directing to him; it was always for Scorchfang. Nor did he really feel any from Silverfang; it was more like a respecting as teacher and as equals kind of thing.

If only he could have felt love from anyone on the day he was born and from then on.

But at the same time, if he did, he wouldn't be here now, leader of a mini rogue Clan, standing next to his beautiful mate, gazing down at his litter who were about to open their eyes and see their mother and father for the first time.

For once he felt... happy.

He lowered his head to An's and gave her ear the briefest of nuzzles. He wasn't ever any good at showing his affection, and frankly, it was a little awkward and uncomfortable for him, but he knew he needed to do something for her. After all, she was the mother of his rather attractive kits. Kits whom he hoped and prayed would never learn of the Clans, let alone entangle themselves with them, or StarClan-- no. Or entity forbid join any of them. He wouldn't let that happen. He'd make sure An wouldn't let that happen.

"I've been thinking of names you could translate," Shade grunted. He knew An wanted to uphold to the tradition her late mate shared with her, so he offered to come up with names that she could translate into the language she was accustomed to. It only seemed fair; these kits weren't just his. "I don't care who's named what, but one can be Merciless, one can be Bloodbath, one can be Death, and one can be Cruel."

One of the larger kits, a brown and grey kit with many jet black stripes, stumbled around blindly. He smelled his mother, that was a smell he had know since he was born, and another familiar smell that he knew as another caretaker. His father. The fluffy tom enjoyed exploring the small area he had, even though he couldn't see or hear yet. Though his mother kept keeping him from one area of the place he had called home for the short time he had been alive. He wanted to explore it. He would soon be able to see, as he would open his eyes quite soon. The kit wobbled towards his father, bumping into his paw. He squeaked in surprise and backed up slightly.

Once he was settled, sitting near his father, he began opening his eyes. His eyes were a gradient of green-yellow-orange, but with a quite blueish tint, as with all kits. In time the blue would disappear. He couldn't see far, but he squeaked a bit as he saw his father for the first time, and then his mother, and then his area that he thought he knew. So many colors! Different things to see!

The biggest of the litter the gingers and white kitten had been stumbling about blinked crawling about close to her mother.  Her amberish eyes stained with blue had just started to open but they opened even more taking everything in a little too quickly causing her to be confused. That's when the kitten felt something tug her closer to the familiar smell of her mother and she let out a slight confused mewl that seemed to die down for a moment as her gaze moved to look up slightly to her mother before something seemed to catch her eye and she looked up at her father.
