Aspenkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Swiftstep leaped up onto the Tallrock with a small twinkle in his amber eyes. A tom-kit was going to be apprenticed today. They will train to soon become a warrior. A warrior that Windclan would be very proud of. The brown tom's face morphed to a serious one before he continued with starting the ceremony. In his heart, he was really excited for this young kit. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Swiftstep called with an authoritative tone.

Aspenkit, with pelt freshly groomed and legs far too long for the nursery anymore, tried not to be intimidated by Swiftstep's strong voice. He wanted to be like that: all-commanding and respected. He imagined one day standing up there and delivering the news to his clanmates. One step closer, he thought. I'm an apprentice today!

The deputy gazed down at the large tom-kit before continuing, "We all gather here today to make one of our kits an apprentice. Aspenkit, please step forward." Once the young tom did, the deputy nodded approvingly with a smile and then began to speak again, "Aspenkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Aspenpaw. Finchbreeze will be your mentor. He had recently acquired his warrior name but he's a capable warrior and I trust that he will pass down everything he knows on to you."

The orange tabby warrior rose to his paws quickly as Swiftstep called his name. An apprentice already? Finchbreeze thought, yellow eyes widening in surprise. It was not long ago that Finchbreeze was an apprentice himself.
But, with a smile, the young tom took his early mentorship as a sign of Swiftstep's faith in him. Finchbreeze gave the deputy a quick nod before padding over to Windclan's newest -paw. He lowered his head to touch noses with the apprentice, a small purr rumbling in his throat.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. I promise I'll try my best as a mentor."
Finchbreeze lifted his gaze to the sky, chuckling softly. Great Starclan... What an adventure this will be...

Aspenpaw lifted his head to meet his new mentor's eyes. He felt like he could run the whole moor that very afternoon. "I can't wait, Finchbreeze," he said, beaming. "Let's start as soon as we can!"
