Poppyheart immediately rushed up to Redwing's side, helping her up to her paws. "Redwing, are you okay? You didn't hurt yourself, did you? That was truly a remarkable attempt; I'm more than certain you'll catch the next one!"

Redwing was starting to get up on her own, when Poppyheart materialized at her side to help her stand. It was so like him- playful and cocky one moment, then encouraging and loving the next. The brush of his shoulder against hers, along with his kind words, sent some feeling shivering through her blood that she hadn't recognized until now. How long had she been kidding herself? As she looked up into his sincere orange eyes, she saw something there. He wasn't just her best friend... she loved him. A spark glimmered in her green gaze, locked with his as she stood. What could she say? Was there anything to say? What if he didn't feel that way about her? "Poppyheart..." she whispered, feeling running deep through the simple word. His name.

The world seemed to freeze in time, then slowly disappear, only to be replaced with beautiful forest green of Redwing’s eyes. Poppyheart’s mouth dropped a little in awe of the molly’s sheer beauty, and his heart skipped a beat, trying to flutter right out of his chest, when she spoke his name.

Stars, she was perfect. She was absolutely stunning with a beautiful coat, amazing bodily structure, and radiant green eyes that were filled with so much love and passion for everything around her — and her personality was a perfect match to her appearance.

” Redwing, I love you.”

And just like that, the world came crashing down on him. Eyes wide, he stared out in utter disbelief, not really at her though, but somewhere. He... He thought he had just thought that in his mind! He had no idea until it was too late that he actually said it out loud! ”U-Ummm!...” He shifted his eyes away nervously. Great, now she probably saw him as really awkward and frog-brained!

He had no doubt in his mind Asterspark would have been laughing his tail off in the sidelines if he were here.

She was stuck just staring at Poppyheart, looking into his eyes, feeling him looking at her. Redwing's paws wouldn't move, but even if she could have move she wouldn't've. Everything about him that had made her befriend him when they first met- his cheerfulness, his kindness, his determination to be the best- came back with a vengeance, hitting her on the head with her discovered feelings. Something light and fluttery was zooming around her heart, and she couldn't say the words she wanted to.

Then he said them for her.

Spoken aloud, those four words were the most beautiful thing she had ever heard. Just the way he'd said her name, the simple honesty in his adorable face, made her eyes glow. Then he looked down, seemingly embarrassed, and the warrior had to laugh at how little he'd changed since his apprenticehood. "I love you too, Poppyheart!" Filled with joy at the revelation, the fluffy she-cat flung herself at him, curling her tail around him in an embrace. Her face buried in his fur, she couldn't stifle a purr. She wanted to stay in this moment forever.

Completely taken aback by Redwing's own confirmation of her love to him, Poppyheart stumbled a little when she forced herself onto him, nuzzling deep into his fur. He could feel the soothing vibrations of her strong purring. His own smile widening with absolute joy that his long-time crush returned his feelings, the ginger-and-white tom released a strong purr of his own. He nuzzled the beautiful molly -- his mate -- and pressed himself into her, drinking in her warm, sweet scent, feeling instantly comforted and protected. In that moment, he felt that, with Redwing by his side, he could never feel sad ever again.
