Daykit and Sunkit's Apprentice Ceremony

From atop the Tallbranch, Mistyrain called out a familiar phrase, gathering her Clanmates beneath her. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!" Today, Tinystar's two youngest kits were ready to be apprenticed. She scanned the approaching groups of cats for them, spotting their pale pelts among those of their Clanmates.

Daykit emerged from the nursery at Mistyrain's call, approaching the Tallbranch and seating herself close to it. Today, perhaps, would be her apprentice ceremony - she was 6 moons old, after all, and clearly capable of taking on apprenticeship.

Following behind his sister was Sunkit, the more fearful of the two. While he still didn't exactly trust the openness of the world outside the nursery, he'd caught word that today was their apprentice ceremony, which meant he had no choice. Sitting beside Daykit so that their pelts touched, the pale white tom looked up to Mistrain, his large ears drooping the sides as he awaited the deputy's news in silence.

Mistyrain waited until both kits were visible and the rest of the Clan had settled before her. "Sunkit and Daykit, please step forward." The she-cat waited a few moments for the siblings to do so. "You both have reached the age of 6 moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. Sunkit, from this day on until you receive your Warrior name, you will be known as Sunpaw. Fernpetal will be your mentor, and I trust that she will pass on to you everything that she knows." She turned to Daykit, in turn. "Daykit, from this day forward until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Daypaw. Your mentor will be Elmcloud, I know that he will do his best to train you in the ways of our Clan." With this, she leaped down from the Tallbranch and raised her voice to join her Clanmates in congratulating the two new apprentices.

Daypaw, sitting straight, beamed up at Mistyrain. She looked around, trying to spot Elmcloud among her Clanmates. She found him without much trouble and moved in his direction to brush noses with him as she had seen other apprentices do.

Listening to Mistyrain, Sunpaw couldn't say he was as enthusiastic as his sister, who was practically beaming with excitement beside him. Giving the deputy a small nod, he watched as Daypaw went to find her mentor and supposed he should do the same. Standing up and his tail tucked under his legs and head low, he looked around for the warrior who he was assigned to. Cautiously making his way over the she-cat, the lean white apprentice slowly stretched out his neck to touch noses with her.

The fine, greatly sensitive fur that graced Elmcloud's features resonated sharply as he gently brushed his muzzle against the newly-named Daypaw's own. Though the blatant enthusiasm exuded by the young molly throughout the duration of her ceremony did not go amiss, he merely settled for a friendly simper in response, "I hope you're ready to begin your training."

Having long since recovered from her concussion during the battle, Fernpetal stood up with ease from her place within the crowd, and proudly strode forward to greet this young tom, the son of her grandfather Tinystar.  With a confident smirk, the brown tabby and white bi-color she-cat bent her graceful head to touch noses with Sunpaw, before backing away to meow; "I'm looking forward to teaching you Sunpaw!"  Deep behind her enthusiastic eyes though, an idea was beginning to form.  It's probably not what they want me to teach you...but it's the truth, and this is one of the only ways I can help SkyClan see through their elaborate lie.
