Little Paws (open)

"Don't get too dirty!" Hazelkit heard his mother call as he scampered out into the morning light. Of course, his mother's wishes wouldn't be fulfilled; dust gathered around his paws as he bounded around, sending clouds of dirt into the air. Soon, his rich cream coat was a shade of pale brown, but he didn't notice, too enthralled in the world around him to care.
His parents took pride in his soft, fluffy coat, but he couldn't say the same; he wanted to look like the rugged warriors, the scarred, ragged ones that had their pelts stained in so many battles you couldn't tell what colour their fur was anymore. He thought he looked too soft to be a strong warrior like them, but he held high hopes; his fur would probably flatten out in the years ahead anyways. Chasing around a little black beetle, he finally caught up to it and crushed it with a paw, his nose wrinkling at the strong scent it emitted. Resorting to batting around a red leaf, his eyes scanned his surroundings, on alert for any other kits to play with.

Beepaw's fluffy tail swished. "Battling a mighty leaf, are we?"

Hazelkit surveyed the bigger cat warily before something caught his eye; a fluffy tail waving side to side. "Well, I was," he squeaked cheekily, "but your tail seems like a much better opponent!" Abandoning the now-shredded leaf, he scampered around Beepaw, playfully pouncing onto his tail, his own high in the air.

opponent? Beepaw's tail was an opponent? He held his tail just tantalizingly high.

ooc: sorry, i can't tell whether your post was out of character or actual rp? i'm guessing it's ic though, so i'll reply as such.

ic: Hazelkit unsuccessfully batted at the air, his little paws unable to reach Beepaw's tail. Mewling in frustration, he turned away from Beepaw in feigned disinterest, batting around the leaf fragments and watching them flit around.
"So what brings you here?" he asked in the deepest, most serious voice he could muster, though it still came out as a high-pitched mew. If he wanted to be an apprentice, he had to be mature and strong. Still, the temptation itched to try and bat at Beepaw's tail just one more time; maybe a running start would work?

ic: Beepaw blinked. It was hard not to laugh. "This is Thunderclan camp, right? I can go here if I want."

"Oh yeah." Hazelkit stood silent for a moment, his mind drifting off elsewhere. How could he show that he was a mighty strong cat who deserved to be an apprentice? An idea popped into his head, and he narrowed his eyes in what he thought was a very intimidating stare.
"Well, you smell like Shadowclan to me! Onward!" In reality, he hadn't the faintest clue what Shadowclan even looked like, let alone smelled like. To him, Beepaw really just smelled like.. a cat. But hey, anything to be an apprentice, right? He slammed into Beepaw's side with all his might; which really wasn't much.

Beepaw batted the tom away with his paw. It was so easy...

Hazelkit dramatically fell back with a huff, sending a small cloud of dust up and covering his fur with even more dirt. Leaping up, he faked a snarl, his tail twitching. "Shadowclan rat, I'll turn you into crowfood! Fight me!" Attempting to size up to the bigger cat, he hopped from side to side as if unable to contain his excitement. This display would surely get him into apprenticeship!

"Gladly, Thunderclan scum." He sneered, before bumping his head on the chest of the tom in a small attempt to knock him back.

"Rawr! WindClan leaps into battle!"
Falconpaw jumped into the game, tackling Beepaw.
She looked at Hazelkit, frustrated that she couldn't "attack" two cats at once.
She leaped off of Beepaw and faced Hazelkit.
"WindClan chooses no sides because we are indecisive scaredy-cats!"

Lifting himself up from the dust after the small shove from Beepaw, he whipped around to face the newcomer, attempting to mask his excitement with his fierce gaze. Again, this cat was bigger than him, so he did the first thing that came to mind.
"Mole attack!" he shouted, charging his way through Falconpaw's legs and emerging at the other side, then batting at her hind legs with a dusty paw. "WindClan is nothing but a clan of mouse-hearts!"

Beepaw grinned. "Yeah!"
