Chervilkit's Apprentice Ceremony

In the sunny afternoon light, cats milled about their day. They were enjoying one of the last days before the enevitable leaf-fall that would soon have the prey preparing for leaf-bare. Certainly the prey would be fatter, but that also meant lean times just beyond the horizon. Marshstorm leapt to the top of High-Rock. The clan would be strong, it would prevail against the upcoming threats. The key to that was simple. More apprentices, and there was one kit who happened to be ready.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath High-rock for a clan meeting!" He yowled. A few ears tilted his direction as cats began to gather beneath him while he waited for a young soft-furred tabby to join them.

It was time! Chervilkit knew what was about to happen. Tatteredleaf hadn't been subtle. And her quiet enthusiasm had filled up up from her little pink nose to the tip of her tail. Petite paws nearly galloped to the center of campus, eventually slowing to sit below Marshstorm. The deputy would pick a wonderful mentor, change her name, and when the sun rose again they would train. Would she end up with Marshstorm? Their clans great leader? Or even one of the many legendary warriors of the clan? She wasn't sure. Her marvelous green gaze locked with the deputy's as she pressed down her excitement and waited with patience.

Pricklepaw brought in his pieces of prey to camp, fresh from hunting, pride still warming him from the inside at his accomplishments. What other apprentice could have caught a rabbit on their first day, and other catches besides? He turned around as he heard the summons for a Clan meeting, and let a small smile grow on his face as he saw one of his denmates from his days as a kit bounding forwards to receive her ceremony. That hadn't been too long ago for him, and he remembered how excited he'd been. Hopefully Chervilkit would get better luck with mentors than he did!

"Chervilkit, step forward." Marshstorm called once the cats had gathered. His tail flicked in curiousity as he watched the delicate kit. Who would be best to mentor one like her? His mind churned with ideas even as he spoke the familiar words.

"Chervilkit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to become an apprentice. From this day on, until you recieve your warrior name, you will be known as Chervilpaw." His gaze turned to a young she-cat warrior. "Your mentor will be Cloverleaf. Her gentle nature will help you on your way." He said calmly as he ended the ceremony by leaping down off High-rock. "Train her well, Cloverleaf."
