Lionkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Swiftstep leaped up onto the Tallrock with a proud twinkle in his amber eyes. A kit was going to be apprenticed today! He'll begin his journey to becoming a warrior. The brown tom's face morphed to a serious one before he began the ceremony. Although, he couldn't completely vanish his excitement. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Swiftstep called with an authoritative tone.

The golden tom padded out of the nursery to watch today's announcement. Knowing since the deputy didn't usually announce anything too vital, it would be an apprentice ceremony. Lionkit hoped it was his, he knew he was six moons old now and his ceremony would come any day now. Just in case Lionkit smoothed down his fluffy still almost kit-like fur and flicked his golden gaze to the deputy.

The brown tom looked directly down at Lionkit before continuing, "We all gather here today to make one of our kits an apprentice. Lionkit, please step forward." Once the young cat did so, the deputy nodded approvingly and then began to speak again, "Lionkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Lionpaw. Spiderfur will be your mentor. I know she'll pass down everything she knows on to you." His mother hadn't had an apprentice for a while and he hoped she was up to training one now.

Lionkit was right, it was his apprentice ceremony. He stepped forward as he was told. He shook his fluffy pelt out of instinct, messing up everything he had done to make it neat and tidy. He didn't really know Spiderfur, but he was sure he would be knowing her a lot better now. He touched noses with his mentor, excited for his first day of training. He would be the best!

The little she-cat moved to touch noses with the young apprentice with a faint smile on her muzzle. While she couldn't help but think of a former apprentice of hers that had the same name, she knew that this tom would be different. He had to be. Spiderfur murmured to him, so as to keep her chronic stammer from affecting his first impression of her, "Congratulations, Lionpaw."
