Fennelkit's Apprentice Ceremony

It was an irritable Scorchclaw that jumped up unto the willow tree that day. Standing on the Willow Branch, he shook out his long tabby pelt. It was on days such as these that he almost regretted being born with long fur. It was hot, it was humid, and it was frankly uncomfortable. Greenleaf seemed to have begun not too long ago, and it was already sweltering. Thankfully, RiverClan still had the river, a fortunate reprieve from the heat. Putting thoughts of a swim to one side, the large brown tom tried to concentrate on the task at hand. Fennelkit was to be made an apprentice today. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!"

Fennelkit strutted out of the nursery with a broad smile stretched across her face, knowing that now was her time. She sat on the ground right in front of Scorchclaw, looking up at him as he sat atop the Willow Branch. Someday, she'd be up there, making announcements and turning kits into apprentices, apprentices into warriors.

Fennelkit's small form was easy to spot. She sat at the very front of the crowd. Scorchclaw noted her presence silently, before casting his gaze out across the gathered cats. The majority of RiverClan had gathered. Today, they would be witnessing another kit receive her apprentice name. "Fennelkit, step forward." In a solemn tone, he summoned the young she-cat forward. "Fennelkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this today onward until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Fennelpaw. Your mentor will be Stormstrike." The named warrior had only been Flurrypaw's mentor for a couple of days. With the massive amount of apprentices that RiverClan had, it couldn't be helped that some cats had to mentor two apprentices.
