Hollowkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!" Scorchfang meowed from the tallest point in camp.

The scruffy tom pricked his ears up expectantly at the deputy's call. Technically, he didn't know how to catch his own prey yet, but he'd definitely learn the proper technique soon. Perhaps today one of his denmates would become apprenticed. It would be respectful to at least watch, right?
At first, he scrambled outside at a hasteful pace, but when he noticed the rest of the Clan quickly gathering, a part of him quickly urged him to act more dignified. He slowed his steps and changed his expression into a more serious one.
Hollowkit took a seat towards the side and lifted his piercing amber gaze to stare at Scorchfang, his prickly tail twitching curiously. He waited patiently for the meeting to begin.

"Hollowkit, step forward," Scorchfang meowed to the young tom, continuing on with the ceremony once he had done as he was told. "You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. Hollowkit, from this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Hollowpaw. Daisyflame will be your mentor. I know he will be able to pass down what he has learned to you."

Hearing his name called, Daisyflame's ears perked and he lifted his head so that he was looking towards the front of the crowd. His first apprentice, how exciting! Making his way to the front of the crowd, the tom touched noses with his new apprentice. "I look forward to training with you," the tom mewed as he retracted from touching noses a smile on his muzzle.

As his name was announced, Hollowkit felt a jolt of sudden and true shock. Already? It seemed that he'd only been a puny, delicate newborn, crying helplessly for his mother, completely dependant on her warmth and comfort just one sunrise ago.
Almost instantly, that feeling of surprise was replaced by a wild sense of excitement. This was what he'd been waiting for. No more annoying and mindless kits playing unnecessary games anymore, just pure hard work and training. He'd surely be the best warrior, and would be completely devoted to earning the grand achievement on finally earning his warrior name. His eyes lit up with enthusiasm as he spotted his mentor, Daisyflame, approaching. The cedar tabby tom extended his neck to meet his mentor's nose. He smiled briefly back and blinked with sincere, serious eyes.
Training would begin at last!
