Carefully brushing several stray tufts of fur back into their proper place, Lichenpaw could hardly bother with the act of feigning any emotions other than dissatisfaction. After spending the morning confined to camp with nothing but the tedious duty of giving himself a thorough wash to keep him company, he felt as though he was going to burst free from his fur. The sheer amount of boredom that stubbornly clung to him was astonishing- who would've thought that having no stray duties or training sessions to attend to would be so frustrating? Tail giving an irritated lash, the young tabby's features were pinched with malcontent as he continued to gaze listlessly around the camp.

Ravenflight made her way over to an apprentice, sitting alone, who didn't seem to be occupied. "Lichenpaw, I'm going hunting," she greeted him. "Would you please join me?" This apprentice seemed to be constantly plagued with boredom and a bad attitude, not a particularly attractive combination. It would be good for him to do something useful with his free time. "Do you know of anyone else who might come?" she asked.

Lichenpaw's lethargic attempts at crowd watching was quickly derailed by Ravenflight's voice. Gaze narrowing slightly at the dark-furred Warrior, his only immediate response to her words was an apathetic shrug. Although the prospect of hunting didn't seem too troubling, it was strange to think that a cat other than his mentor would be handling his training for a stretch of time. It was almost a relief to be away from Silverfang, especially after the events that had transpired. Slowly rising to his paws and giving himself a vigorous shake to clear away the lingering tendrils of drowsiness, the young tom slowly made his way towards Ravenflight. "Dunno if any other cat wants to come, most are already out on patrol."



Sunfish, who had just finished overseeing Milkpaw's training for the afternoon, was much too restless to be sitting about. After a brief lounge in the shade and a quick meal to replenish the energy that the brutal sun had stolen from her, her limbs no longer felt heavy with the weight of exhaustion. Watching as Ravenflight rounded up a stray apprentice under the guise of a potential hunting patrol, the she-cat's features lightened with interest. Hurriedly making her way towards the odd pair, the tabby flicked her tail in a friendly greeting. "I suppose you wouldn't mind if I tagged along?"

Birchpaw had been grooming himself in a patch of shade. He noticed the cat's gathering near the exit of camp, and realized they were about to go on patrol. Giving his flank a few final licks, he stood up and bounded towards them, black tail high in the air. "Do you mind having one extra cat?"

"Alright, this is fine," Ravenflight mewed, nodding to Birchpaw and Sunfish respectively as they joined the small group. "We'll hunt not too far from camp," she instructed, getting to her paws. She led the group out of the RiverClan camp, and continued through the territory at a steady trot until they reached a quiet, open area. "Hunt here, and don't get yourselves into trouble," she said, the latter comment aimed more at the two at the two apprentices.

She distanced herself from the group, having spotted a small lizard several fox-lengths away from where she stopped. She returned empty pawed, the lizard having noticed her and scampered away before she could stop it.

Tail whisking in a brief, nonverbal understanding of Ravenflight's instructions, Lichenpaw's steps were smooth and silent as he departed from the small patrol. Carefully mimicking the delicate form that Silverfang had only shown him a few sunrises prior, the young tom's sight was set upon the unfortunate form of a frog. They weren't the best tasting creatures in the world, but it would do. Lowering himself so close to the earth that his belly brushed against the damp soil, the young tom's haunches wriggled slightly as he prepared to leap. However, it appeared as though the slimy creature was well aware of his presence, because it was quick to flee out of reach. Snorting out a huff of irritation, Lichenpaw's gaze was edged with a sullen expression.

Sunfish, after spending a brief moment observing the rapidly disappearing shapes of her Clanmates, waited for a heartbeat or so before slipping off in the opposite direction. A flash of vivid green caught her gaze, making her head turn after the small creature who had just scuttled off before her. Lizard! Exploding forward after the small creature, it was a stroke of pure luck that she was able to capture the lizard before it could dart off once more. Quickly finishing off the writhing creature, Sunfish hurriedly stashed the small scaled creature's body before venturing off once more.

Birchpaw watched the three cats closely, before sniffing out his own prey. He approached a frog, his tail as still as a stick and his belly just barely brushing up against the waterlogged ground. His entire body was tense, his eyes intent as he neared his prey. Once he was close enough, the creme and black cat paused, body poised for action, before he sprang forward with claws unsheathed. However, he camemout empty-pawed, as the creature slipped right through his paws. He curded softly to himself, glancing around for something else to hunt.

A thrush caught Ravenflight's attention, no more than a few fox-lengths away, pecking aimlessly at the ground. It didn't seem to have noticed her, so she dropped into a low hunting crouch. She padded forward, almost silently, in attempt to catch the bird. She drew closer and closer, and when she deemed the distance just right, she pounced. However, once again, her prey evade her grasp, though this time only by a whisker. "Mouse dung," she muttered, frustrated. Why couldn't she catch her prey correctly today? She sighed, hoping the others were having better luck.

Darkly patterned tail whisking about above the swaying sea of reeds, Lichenpaw continued to venture off in search of something to help soothe his newly slighted pride. Who would've thought a frog of all creatures was able to outsmart him! Letting out a disdained little sneeze, the young tom made a beeline for a nearby tributary that was known for holding fish- albeit, small ones. Settling himself atop the rocky banks, the young tom's gaze focused upon the rapidly-moving waters before him. Flicking up a small, writhing fish with a surprising amount of ease, Lichenpaw quickly dispatched the freshly-caught creature.

Casting one final glance in the direction of where her catch had been safely concealed, Sunfish set off in search of another potential victim. Although she was much too full to rely upon hunger lending her extra skill, at least her mind was wholly focused upon the task before her. Blinking at the sight of a frog just a tempting distance away, the young tabby quickly dropped into a crouch. Leaping forward before the frog could even fully notice her presence, Sunfish made quick work of the slimy, and admittedly unappetizing, amphibian.

Birchpaw watched in silence as the cats in the patrol, all with seemingly better luck than him in finding prey and being able to catch it. Twitching his whiskers, the Riverclan tom followed after Lichenpaw, to see where he was going. He saw him, sitting at the edge of a small hole of water. He held back a snort, and padded over, sitting at the opposite side. He peered into the water, watching the small fish swim around. Raising his paw, he struck, knocking a rather small fish onto the bank. Quickly, he put it out of its misery.
