Are you not entertained!? [open]

Sootkit laid out in the sun in the middle of camp. She stretched her front paws in front of her and her back legs behind her, then didn't bother to tuck her limbs into place when she was done- just slumping down. Everyone seemed busy today and she couldn't find her scrap of fern leaf to chase around, not that she really wanted to do that again right now anyway.
She sighed. "Why is everyone so busy today...?" she mumbled.

Blazeflight, having caught wind of what the small she-kit was muttering on about, smirked as an idea bloomed in her mind. Stopping just short of the freshkill pile, she grabbed a rather plump mouse and turned around, heading in the direction multi-colored kit. Plopping the prey down next to her, she sat down as gently as she could."I'd be delighted to share some of my utterly amazing Warrior insight with you, if you'd like." She flicked her ears as she looked down into the kits large eyes, smiling lightly.

Sootkit jumped up and looked back into Blazeflight's eyes, filled with joy and curiosity. She padded from one foot to the other "What's it like?" she asked before sitting down. She flicked her tail back and forth. "Tell me some stories!" She was so excited to have company, and a Warrior who wanted to share "amazing insight". Finally, something to impress Littlestar with. She could train early!

Pumakit had been in the nursery for quite some time and now it was all so boring and familiar. She rarely talked to the other kits, she didn't know why, the kit just found them... Boring. The voice of a warrior however, made the russet furred bundle of fluff ear's perk right up. It wasn't long after hearing the she-cat's offer to share some amazing insight, that Pumakit came bumbling out of the nursery, nearly tripping over her fluffy paws. The kit skidded to a halt in front of the warrior, her blue eyes shining and her thick red fur all frazzled. " I do, I do!" she squealed bouncing up and down. Pumakit glanced around and saw one of the kits she shared the nursery with, Sootkit. Her gaze darkened slightly as she looked upon Sootkit, and she felt her cheeks heat up when she realised how she'd acted. Her first time talking to a warrior other than her father and she'd nearly tripped over and tumbled right into the poor she-cat. Pumakit removed her gaze from Sootkit and turned to look at the warrior, waiting for her to share her tales.

"Stories, eh?" She chuckled as another kit rushed forward, skidding on the ground slightly as she stopped just in front of the russet three-legged warrior."There's so many stories I could tell..." She grinned as she looked down on the precious, tiny kits. It'd always been her wish to have some of her own, but if she couldn't have any, she wasn't going to pass up this amazing opportunity to talk to them, and share stories. It almost made her feel like an elder, looking down onto their furry little forms and sharing the stories that had come with seasons of hunting, fighting, everything that came with being a warrior. As a particular instance came to mind, she figured it was the best way to go. She didn't want to scare the young kits with how she'd lost most of her tail or her leg, but she wanted to include some action to get them excited. The perfect story to tell, it was action-packed without being too scary for their young, susceptible minds."Ah, I know where to start." Laying down and stretching her front paws in front of her, she pushed the mouse towards the kits."Now, I'm sure you've been told about how terrifying dogs can be, no?" She was talking in an almost theatrical voice, beaming as she spoke to the kits.

"Big, growling monsters!" Sootkit said, eyes widening. "They could eat us up in one bite!" She swished her tail and tucked her paws under her. This is gonna be good...

Pumakit shivered, she'd heard about what dogs could do. She shifted her paws anxiously and settled down, curling her tail over her paws. "My mother said that they can be worse than foxes." stated Pumakit matter of factly. She glanced at Sootkit, as she spoke and although she didn't want to admit it, the kit was right. The breeze ruffled the kits fur and she gave it a swift lick, tail twitching as she waited eagerly for Blazeflight to begin her story.

Nodding in agreement to what the kits told her about the dogs, Blazeflight continued."Now, I've had more than one run-in with these ferocious creatures, and let me tell you, it is not fun."Peering down at the mouse- which neither of them had touched- she pushed it forward a little more, keeping eye contact with the kits the entire time."Now, to get to the real story. One day, Scorchfang, Lionpaw, and I were out on a hunting patrol. Now, I know you can only imagine how hard hunting is when you're missing a leg, and it's only made more difficult when you only have a nub as a tail."She shifted her gaze down to where her leg had once been, a smile held on her face the entire time, and flicked her tiny stub of a tail to pull the kits attention down to where she was looking. "Scorchfang and I were working on a new way to hunt for cats without a leg, when suddenly-"She interrupted her story with something akin to the sound that she'd grown to know as a dog, keeping it relatively quiet for the elders but making sure to give the kits a jump."I had just made a leap for- ah, what was it, a lizard? Yes, a lizard- when a dog jumped towards me, and caught me in its massive, powerful jaws."She knew this was a more recent event, but it was still a story, right?

Sootkit gasped and shrank in her spot, covering her paws with her tail. Her ears lowered a bit and thought about moving a bit closer to Pumakit, but decided against it. It would probably seem weird. This was a story, it wasn't like there was an actual dog in camp; besides, she had to seem at least a little braver than that - she had to be a Warrior and probably fight a dog too!
But those bright amber eyes of her still shined brightly with that curiosity. "What happened next?" she whispered.

Pumakit gazed up at the warrior, taking a mouthful of the mouse as she listened. She'd never tried mouse, but she found that she liked it is sweet taste. The small kit purred contently, blue eyes gazing up at the warrior. Her ears were pricked as she listened intently, trying to picture the scene in her head. Calm and quiet, a lizard scurrying across the ground. Blazeflight leaping after it then, SNAP! The Dog grabbing her with a bark. Pumakit let out a yelp in surprise, choking on her mouthful of mouse. The scene she'd imagined was terrifying. Blazeflight was so brave! Pumakit took a deep breath in, it was just a story, besides it was fine, Blazeflight was sitting right in front of her, telling the story.

Blazeflight's gaze turned serious as she looked down at Pumakit."Are you alright?" Whenever the she-kits breathing evened out, she sighed a breath of relief."Well, to continue the story," She grinned again, happy that the young cats were enjoying her tale."Your Deputy, Scorchfang, was there with me, as I mentioned before. Things were looking bad, the dog was growling and making a great fuss, throwing me around like it was nothing else. But then, Scorchfang swooped in and saved the day, and that scared old dog ran off with his tail between his legs!" Blazeflight lowered her head a bit, coming to eye level with each of the kits."He's a very braze cat, y'know." Smiling warmly, she lifted her head back up."I've got more stories... If you can handle them." She winked at the tiny kittens in front of her, a smirk worming its way onto her face.

Sootkit sat up straight, a new sparkle in her eyes matching her utter excitement. "Whoa! Scorchfang scared a dog?" That was amazing! She couldn't wait to be a Warrior! Maybe she'd be able to scare one off to when she got bigger and show Blazeflight just how brave she was! Her front paws shifted as she tried to sit still. I can't wait for more stories, she thought. Today isn't gonna be so boring after all!

Pumakit's cheek burned at the warrior's words. She was fine, but tears pricked at her eyes and she felt her throat close up as she begun to cough violently. She attempted to nod, but it was hard to tell. She waited for the coughing fit to pass, before finally nodding as her breathing evened out a little. The russet furred kit glanced at Sootkit, she better not be laughing. Pumakit relaxed a little when she saw it was fine, turning hr gaze back to Blazeflight as she told them of Scorchfang's bravery. The kit's blue eyes widened and her maw dropped, their deputy could scare off a dog?! "When I'm a warrior I want to be even stronger and braver than Scorchfang! Then no dogs will ever bother our clan again! They will be so scared, ha!" yowled Pumakit scrambling to her paws, holding her head high. "I can handle all your stories, Blazrflight. I have to be so I won't be scared as a warrior, you'll of already told me all the scary things!"

"Scorchfang did indeed scare a dog." She answered politely to the tiny she-kits question. In response to Pumakit's question, she let out a light-hearted chuckle. "That's not something that you can easily achieve, but you and I both know you can do it if you train hard and work towards your goal." Nodding to her next words, she thought of what other stories might be of interest to the kits. Thinking back to the time when Rockthorn had brought the terrible fire into the forest, she grinned. She wouldn't tell the kits about Rockthorn- she knew all too well how much that might frighten their young, innocent minds- but the story of the forest fire was perfect. "Have your mothers ever told you about the forest fire, many moons ago?" She wanted to make sure both kits were ready especially seeing how Pumakit had just recovered from a horrible bought of a coughing fit.

Sootkit hummed in thought. She couldn't remember her parents telling her about it, but she had managed to pick up bits and pieces. All she remembered was that it was a big, dangerous fire. Sootkit took some time dreaming up what it must've looked like, all the trees bright and lit up, spreading and burning. Maybe the other cats looked covered in soot too.
"A little..." She finally managed to mutter that after she shook the thoughts away.
