Pigeonkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Leaping up onto the tallbranch, Tinylegs gave his pelt a shake, ready to conduct another apprentice ceremony. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for a clan meeting!" the small, white and grey tom called out.

Even though Frostwing had insisted on grooming her daughter before the ceremony, Pigeonkit still padded out with a messy feel to her multi-colored fur. A grin graced her muzzle as she sat herself down near the front of the crowd. An apprentice ceremony was a very important step in the life of a Clan cat, and Pigeonkit was determined to outshine all of the other apprentices. Perhaps it would be easy, a lot of them were dumb, anyway.

Waiting a few moments for cats to gather, he spotted Pigeonkit among the growing crowd and decided to begin. "We gather here today to give a kit their apprentice name," he mewed, his soft blue gaze looking down the kit. "Pigeonkit, please step forward," the short tom mewed, giving a curt dip of his head to the younger cat. "You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this point, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Pigeonpaw. Your mentor will be Frostwing. I trust that she will teach you well and pass on all of her knowledge of the warrior code onto you," Tinylegs finished, a smile on his muzzle. After that, he leapt down from the tallbranch and concluded the ceremony as the chants for the newly named apprentice rose up into the air.

The newly-named Pigeonpaw smiled brightly as she realized that her mother would be her mentor. All the young she-cat could think about, now, was what training would be like, and how she would become better than any apprentice that slept in the den that she was now apart of. With her smile turning into a smirk, Pigeonpaw lifted her nose and touched it softly to Frostwing's.

Frostwing followed in affectionate exasperation as Pigeonkit scrambled out of her grasp, ruffling her almost-perfectly groomed fur in the process, and padded proudly up to the tall branch. Her look of exasperation soon turned to one of excitement and pure love as she gazed warmly at her daughter. This was her first daughter to be apprenticed. It was a moment she would never forget.

She sat patiently throughout the ceremony, only the tip of her tail twitching conveyed her joy, when Tinylegs got to the mentoring part. Her eyes widened with shock, but it quickly softened into love and anticipation. She approached the newly-named Pigeonpaw with a proud grin and touched her nose to the smaller cat. "I can't wait to train with you, Pigeonpaw." She purred fondly. She couldn't help but silently thank Tinylegs. Her first apprentice was her daughter. She didn't think she could have hoped for anything more.
