Wildpaw’s Assessment

Scorchfang had told his younger brother and second ever apprentice Wildpaw to meet him next to the deep marshes of ShadowClan territory. It had been a while since his punishment for killing a WindClan cat was lifted, and he had watched over his progress intensely, and thankfully his inner fears of the murder triggering a killing streak in his younger brother was extinguished over time. Now he was nearly ready to become a warrior, but first he had to test how far he had come on his hunting skills.

Wildpaw were walking quietly throught the dark forest towards the Deep Marshes. It felt good to finally be out of camp, he had been stuck in camp for a moon.
Once he got close to the marshes he dropped into a crouch and quickly caught his brothers scent. He sneaked quietly throught the marshes. When he saw his brother he sneaked up behind him and pounced on him, pinning him down and laughed "It fells good to be back out!".

Scorchfang, being the experienced warrior he was, did hear his brother creeping up behind him, but he decided to let him have the satisfaction of 'catching him off guard' anyway, grunting as he fell to the ground. "Heyyy, get off of me before I get you back for that!" he playfully threatened, gently shaking him off and standing back up. "So, you say that you're ready for your official hunting assessment, huh? Think you've got what it takes?"

"Hopefully, I mean I havn't hunted in a pretty long time..." as he meowed that he realized that he could acctually fail the assessment due to being stuck in camp, sure he had pounced on a couple leaves in boredom but that's all. He shook his head, he was over thnking it.
He wasn't gonna fail this! He was gonna be one of the best warriors in the clan along with his brother, he couldn't fail this!

Scorchfang smiled encouragingly down at his apprentice. "Well, I for one know you'll do absolutely fine. Now, here's what I want you to catch: a frog or toad from the deep marshes, a mouse by the Thunderpath, a lizard near the Carrionplace, and as a bonus, either a squirrel, bird, or rabbit anywhere you can find one in the territory. I'll keep watch of your progress, but don't try to seek me out. Just focus on your assessment, alright?"

Wildpaw nodded and smiled at his brother and mentor. "Okay, I can do that.. I think.. I hope.. UGH! I need to stop being so nervous... That's not me!.." he shook his head slowly and then stalked of in the deep marshes looking for either a frog or a toad, whatever they all looked pretty much the same to him.

"It's natural to be nervous, but the best thing to do is convert that nervous energy into concentration and determination, and you will do fine." Scorchfang smiled as he watched his brother wander off, then slipped in between the trees to begin viewing his progress.

He creept quietly throught the forest and after awhile he finally saw a frog and launched forward at it. He was a little to far away so he missed it. He growled loudly and at the same time he heard a loud shriek and looked up. A large owl where charging at him and insted of doing anything he froze and stared at it.
In the laast second he managed to throw himself to the side and dodge the owls attack.

"Wildpaw!" Scorchfang raced through the trees as soon as he saw the owl whisk past his brother, fear for his safety unfortunately causing him to become angry at his inactivity. "Don't just stand there, you frog-brain, or else it'll get you!" He leaped up at the owl and managed to knock it out of the air with a strong headbutt, causing it to fall to the ground, as it dove down to try and attack once again.

Scorchfang used Run-and-Tackle on Owl, dealing 13 (+3) damage and costing 10 stamina.

Wildpaw finally realized what was hapening and threw himself forward and slashed the owl across the face as it was attacking his brother.

Scorchfang spat in fury and pain as the sharp talons scored across his haunch. Ignoring the pain, his tail lashing and whipping behind him to help the pain ebb away, he leaped back up and slashed his claws down hard against the owl’s exposed belly.

Scorchfang used Rear-Up to Slash on Owl, dealing 17 damage and costing 15 stamina.

Wildpaw looked around quickly and saw a mud patch, he quickly scooped up some mud and threw it towards the owl, hitting it in the face.

Scorchfang grunted again at the second attack, though he felt the owl was too weak to deal any real damage. As soon as it landed to try and wipe the mud out of its face, he slashed his claws through its exposed belly. The gash left behind was fatal, and within moments the owl bled out, twitching on the ground until it fell completely still.

“There... That’s that...” Scorchfang panted, wincing at the pain in his cheek and haunch. He turned to his apprentice. ”Are you okay, Wildpaw? Do you think you’re well enough to continue with your assessment?”

Scorchfang used Front Paw Strike on Owl, dealing 14 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Owl is dead.
